Darrell,

This is definitely the right place to ask.

Have you verified which program is correct, by pass reception? If not, take
a look here:

http://www.amsat.org/amsat-new/tools/predict/index.php

I have DST enabled on my computer, and UTC offset set to auto in SatPC32 and
it handles the time
changes correctly.

Alan

Michael,

How about more details. What doesn't work? No frequency shown in frequency
area at top or you can't hear your own downlink, or what exactly?

AO-73 is a different animal compared to FO-29 because it's frequency drifts
quite a bit so even if you get yourself dialed in to hear yourself, it will
not stay that way and you'll still need to adjust uplink offset throughout
the pass.

Not sure why but if Skype is on I can not post to the status page. Oh

W9AE replies:

The most likely explanation is that you changed the UTC Offset (in the
SatPC32 Observer Setup menu) from "auto" to your local time zone.

You probably set the UTC Offset to UTC-5, which makes the time one hour
off during Daylight Savings Time. If you manually set the UTC Offset,
you will need to set it to UTC-4 during daylight savings and UTC-5
during standard time.

It's best to use the default UTC Offset of "auto". Then SatPC32 obtains
the UTC Offset from the Windows operating system, which automatically
adjusts when Daylight Savings comes and goes.

Go into the Observer Setup menu and enter "auto" (without quotes) for
the Offset. For this to work correctly, your time zone must be correct
in the Windows Date and Time control panel.

I know the "auto" UTC Offset feature well because I requested it many
years ago after having the same problem you reported.

Have you shut SatPC32 down and restarted it since the time change? I noticed

Alan, Yes, I know that HRD is correct based on hearing the birds at the
right time using its prediction. Further, SatPC32 shows the wrong UTC (one
hour later) in the upper right corner. For instance, now it's showing
15:31, but UTC is 14:31.

Thanks. BTW, I'm running Windows 7 with latest updates.

Cellular networks should be on licensed frequencies and wifi/bluetooth
should be on UNlicensed frequencies. Therefore, the two services
shouldn't interfere with each other, since they aren't actually on the
same frequencies. Of course, if someone has been tinkering with their
wifi or bluetooth hardware, then all bets are off.

This is probably not a physical problem, maybe the same ports are used or
skype is using one in blocking mode that the Oscar page uses for data.

Dave,

Whole Orbit Data refers to data collected on board the spacecraft for an
entire orbit and downloaded later. This is said to distinguish from
telemetry data received in real time - covering only that portion of the
orbit in range of the ground station. This lets controllers know what
happened while the spacecraft was out of communication, e.g. over the
South Pacific.

OK, everybody, we have approval to overnight and operate Field Day from
the Battleship Iowa!

I'll be operating as NI6BB from the aft deck using the same gear I've
used for the K6AA FD operations I've done in the past.

We're in DM03ur, and I will personally QSL 100% to all operators I work,
so here's a chance to not only get DM03, but also a nice NI6BB card.

I'll be setting up my sat station in the back yard in the next week or
two to make sure everything works, so DM03 will be activated then, too.

73, and hope to work many of you on Field Day!
