These are test operations only. General availability (whether
continuous operation or by schedule) will apparently be announced in
the near future.

The times in UTC listed in the linked table are when the repeater is
enabled. It is scheduled to be active for the pass over much of US
around 18:56 UTC today as well as the pass around 05:45 UTC tonight.

Unfortunately, the activations this weekend are only good for the east
coast and midwest.

Hi Dave!

It was certainly on during that first 29-Mar 05:17-06:07 UTC window last
night:

https://twitter.com/scott23192/status/1111509254664581121

... and sounded pretty good. I did notice that it wasn't very tolerant of
getting too far off freq (doppler) on the uplink and also needed a bit more
elevation than some of the other FM satellites. So, be prepared for some
drop-outs if you're not strong on the uplink. But,
VE2HEW & I were able to chat normally during the highest part of the pass.

Other than the schedule you linked to, I don't know when or if it'll be on
over the U.S. going forward.

It definitely works on Windows 10, so that is not the problem. (I also
have a TS2000). Are you seeing the frequency numbers change in the middle
of the SatPC32 screen? Is the "C" switch (top left) showing C+ and not C-?

Good to know that it does work with Windows 10.
Yes to both of those questions.? What I see on the TS-2000 is that
the 'CTRL' annunciator turns on on the Main side and the 'CTRL' flashes ONCE
on the Sub side and that's as far as it goes.? It does set the frequency
once when
toggling the 'C' to C- and back to C+ but then is stuck with the Main
'CTRL' showing
and doing nothing more.

It's the exact same set up I was using on Windows 7 right down to the RT
Systems
USB to Serial dongle.? I also tried a Keyspan dongle with the same results.

I've tried different baud rates, different delay settings, etc. About
the only thing
I haven't tried is a complete reset of the TS-2000.? I don't want to do
that as I would
lose all of its settings but that may be next.

Thanks for your suggestions, Burns.

I will be listening for Diwata-2 at 18:55 UTC (overhead pass) on the
scheduled time it will be on this evening which is 18:37-19:27 UTC. It is
also on in the middle of the night around 1:30 AM EST if you want to stay
up late. JA0CAW on twitter lists the full schedules and updates on Diwata-2
so watch his page if you want to know the latest. Looking forward to this
new satellite and continuous operations!

Did you notice this in the FAQ docs. As you really have to dig into it a bit
to catch this critical step.

I have a TS-2000x and it works just fine with this.

Kenwood TS-2000 CAT problem with SatPC32 vers. 12.8c and later

With SatPC32 and SatPC32ISS version 12.8c I use a new component to manage
the serial ports. The old component supported only COM port numbers up to
15. The new USB-to-Serial adapters generate often virtual port numbers > 15,
however.

Steering the TS-2000 with SatPC32 and SatPC32ISS vers. 12.8c requires the
option "RTS+12V" (SatPC32 menu "Setup" > "Radio Setup") to be checked. That
imitates the hardware handshaking the TS-2000 expects.

Another solution is a homemade RS-232 cable with only the 3 lines Ground,
RxD, TxD wired and a wire bridge between CTS and RTS (pins 7 and 8 of the
DB-9 plug) on the TS-2000 side.

Hope that helps,
Walter/K5WH

I was successfully using Windows 7 to run SatPC32 and suffered a
catastrophic failure of the computer so I had to replace it.

I replaced it with a used Windows 10 computer.

I can install SatPC32 and get it set up, as best as i remember how to do.
Things seem to be working except for the doppler tracking of the CAT control.
I know SatPC is talking to my TS-2000 because it goes into satellite mode
when I start SatPC. Also, I can click on the CW tab and it changes to CW
and back when I deselect it. But no doppler tracking control.

I'm at a loss as what to do at this point.

Thanks for any help.

This worked! I put the filter on the 70 cm side of the "rig" and I was
full duplex on the next SO-50 pass. Thanks for the great tip.

I also appreciate you roving to a grid line and giving several of us a
"twofer".

Burns,

You are correct.? Traditional liquid-fueled rocket engines are very
complicated, due in part to the turbo pumps that feed the fuel
and oxidizer that are at cryogenic temperatures.? Traditionally,
the fuel and oxidizer are tapped to burn a small amount in a
preburner to power the turbopumps to keep the engine fed and
thrust maintained.? The plumbing to make this happen results in a
heavy rocket engine.

Using electric motors removes all of the plumbing needed to support
the turbopumps but, as you observed, at the cost of needing batteries
with enough power to keep the pumps running during the launch.? LiPo
batteries provide the power density to make this feasible.? Even still,
they have two sets and kick the spent batteries out when exhausted and
no longer needed.
