Just to clarify the recent announcement about FOX 1C. ?Am I correct in
assuming that the L band will be added to FOX 1C and it will still launch
this fall? ?I hope so but want to make sure I got this correct as I do not
know when the delivery date is for FOX 1C.
Thanks,

Does anybody have any experience that they'd like to share about using an M2
Eggbeater antenna on 2 meters for satellite work? I was thinking about using
one to go to and from the ISS and to receive AO-73 telemetry. Right now I
just have a 5/8 wave vertical and (surprise!) that's not doing the trick.
I'm running 25 watts out of a Yaesu FT290RII. I'm not ready for the whole
computer controlled tracking dual yagi thing yet.
Any and all insights and comments will be appreciated.
Thank you!

Steve - we actually conducted our ARISS contact on a M2 Eggbeater as we had
a last minute problem with the primary station and had to shift to the
backup rig and antenna (now that was exciting and our hearts started beating
again only when we heard the astronaut coming back to us!). Our contact
lasted about 10 minutes with the antenna up at about 40? on top of the
school gym where we worked the ISS.

I've suddenly started receiving AMSAT BB traffic in my main INBOX which
means my filter has stopped catching and routing the messages.

My filter looks at the header field "List-Id" and sorts according to
matches it makes there.

I now see traffic coming from the list with this List-ID,

List-Id: AMSAT-NA Bulletin Board Mailing List <amsat-bb.amast.org>
                                                        ^^^^^

and that doesn't match the group formerly known as amsat.org

I think someone typo'd something there. Can we fix it?

This is the official announcement from the ARRL. They are extending the age
of young hams who can get picked to 24.

You won't want to miss the year's Saturday morning Youth Forum organized by
Carole Perry, WB2MGP at Dayton Hamvention. Amateur Radio licensed students
in elementary grades through college undergrad attending the Forum will have
the opportunity to be selected to join astronaut Mike Fincke, KE5AIT for a
special luncheon hosted by ARRL to talk about his career, space travel and
research on the ISS. The luncheon will follow the Forum.

Hi Chris,

I checked with the IT Wizards in the back room at AMSAT and they replied
with:

"Thank Chris for pointing out that error. He should find the typo fixed in
messages sent from now on."

Hopefully you're back on track!

This AMSAT group is great! Ask a question and it does get answered!

My summary of what I have so far: M2 Eggbeaters are probably OK for working
the ISS since ISS has a strong downlink. The antennas may be OK for the
AO-73 telemetry when the satellite is 300mW telemetry watt and higher than
about 20 degrees in elevation.
If those things are more or less true, the Eggbeater will probably suit my
purpose.

I had not planned on working the other satellites with the Eggbeater. I get
on SO-50 once in awhile out in the backyard with my HT and an Arrow
antenna. I'm not a power-hitter, but I'm averaging at least one QSO per
pass and I'm good with that.

Still open for suggestions, if anyone has any more before I decide what to
do.

Thanks again folks!

If you are handy, Google "An EZ-Lindenblad Antenna for 2 Meters" for an
antenna design by Tony, AA2TX(SK). It has some advantages over a regular
eggbeater, with circularity at low elevations.
