I made my first "new" sat contact yesterday after more than 20 years.

K7YDL and I met up on XW-2B at about 1630 local. I was so shocked that
someone answered my call that I forgot to give my grid and first name!
Talk about tongue-tied. Thanks, Greg.

The last time I was on the sats, I used my ICOM IC-W32A and an Arrow
antenna from my deck in Fairbanks, AK (BP64). And with printed keps. I
was WL7CQX then.

This time, it's now an ICOM IC-9700 with M2 2M and 70CM CP antennas with
polarity switching, a G-5500 rotor system with a Fox Delta ST2-0417 USB
controller , and SatPC32. from Greenacres, WA (DN17). Now, I've got my
father's callsign, W7OTJ (sk). He was first licensed in 1952.

I'm still learning about the IC-9700 but OH MY, it's sweet.

This morning I had a contact with KI4AFK(?) on AO-92. But I can't find
KI4AFK on QRZ.com or in the FCC database. Also, the grid I have for you
on my recorder is located about 500 miles off the coast of Chile.

I'm assuming my recording device had a glitch or an ambient noise messed
up recording your call and grid.

If your call is close to KI4AFK and you had a QSO on AO-92 with AI9IN
today please reply. Thank you!

New AMSAT member here, hoping to get on the air in the new future. I'm
looking at the M2 Eggbeaters and I have a question that perhaps someone has
thought about already or better yet done some modeling for. Specifically,
has anyone replaced the 6 inch standoff mast on the EB-144 with something
longer, and if so, how long, thus increasing the distance between the
element loops and radials? (Also, would this even be possible on the
EB-432 as it looks like there is no standoff mast and instead the body
assembly attaches directly to the radial plate?) My thinking, perhaps
faulty, is that extending the distance between the element loops and
radials on both models would have the desired effect of flattening out the
elevation pattern. That is, there would be less gain overhead (where
satellites appear less frequently and high gain really isn't needed) but on
the other hand gain would be increased in the 15-45 degree range. Has
anyone modified the Eggbeaters in this way? Alternatively, has anyone
modeled Eggbeaters with longer standoff masts? Is there an optimal
distance for standoff masts for both models, for using satellites that are
on the air at the present time? Thanks! Wes NA1ME.

Paper QSLs have not change since your last foray into amateur satellite
operations.? What is new is Logbook of the World (LOTW).?If you are already
a LOTW user, you should know that there are additional items required for
satellite confirmations than compared to HF QSOs.? There is an excellent
article on the AMSAT website
(https://www.amsat.org/logging-satellite-qsos-with-logbook-of-the-world/)
that explains this.? In addition, you can look in LOTW Help, Frequently
Asked Questons, 5. QSOs, Confirmations, and Award Credits?
plus you can find.? Note, if you are using a logging program, by default,
the required items will not be present.? Depending on which logging program
you use, you may be able to activate these options.?73,?Robert Bankston,

Look up Texas Potato Mashers - I think that is what you are looking for.
They supposedly work a lot better than Egg Beaters but even then, they are
likely a poor substitute for a small beam.
