Hello Roy,

I thought you used xnec2c that's why I used the descriptions above.
Anyway:

GM -> F6 set to 3
RP -> I2 set to 31, F3 set to 3

Ah, I didn't even realize those were specific to the xnec2c editor! I had
been using a terminal editor (nano) - but this makes much more sense.
Thank you!

half duplex and had about 3 contacts so now I have full duplex setup.I have
the Amsat chart so I set up for those frequencies. For doppler shift on 440kc
is it? +-15kc?I am running about 20watts so I should be okay,It's alot but
it's also a vertical.I unlink the uplink? on my radio and listen and
transmitt while moving the downlink-nothing?Any advice. Thanks alot for your
help:)73Rich

Greetings All,

I have been off the birds for the last 3 months or so due to a death in
the family.? Now that things are settling down and life is starting to
get back to normal, my XYL and I are hooking up the 5th wheel and
heading to Joshua Tree NP for the Thanksgiving weekend.? I plan to work
the FM birds holiday style on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, weather
permitting from the DM 13/14 grid line and DM 13/23 grid line. Will
upload contact to LOTW upon my return to home QTH. Hope to hear you.

"With respect to amateur operations, is there sufficient existing
amateur spectrum in other bands that can support the operations
currently conducted in the 3.3-3.5 GHz band?"

We're slowly being corralled into less and less spectrum, without
consideration given to the fact that each band has slightly different
characteristics and challenges.

It is clear that the FCC, and our legislators in Congress, no longer
consider the greater public good when parceling out spectrum
allocations. Instead, the almighty dollar drives their decisions.

"Since July 1994, the FCC has conducted 87 spectrum auctions, which
raised over $60 billion for the U.S. Treasury (not all of which has been
collected)." (Wikipedia)

Broadcast TV, initially licensed for the public good to disseminate
news, is now only entertainment. The "news" reported is a joke, and its
only purpose is to lure viewers into watching the 60% commercials to
line the pockets of the station/networks. Guess where they put that
money? Right back into lobbying our legislature into giving them more of
what they want.

Mobile networks? Another wasteland of entertainment with little actual
content. Gotta have 5G to watch the latest Netflix or whatever while
driving...

*sigh*

At this point I'm going to suggest that rather than complain instead run to
turf somebody out in an elected office. Primary season for congressional
elections will start up very shortly. DC is stuck in a rut and frankly
firing all the incumbents on Capitol Hill might help make action a little
more sensible.

In their day, all it took was a saw-tooth oscillator to the analog
varactor tuning lead and you had a spectrum analyzer, 60-900 MHz.

I delayed too long. All 80 set-top analog Cable TV tuners are going to the
dump Tuesday, unless some old man still wants to play. Location is Glen
Burnie, MD. Could bring a few to dayton...

Ev,

The amateur satellite service band at 3.4 - 3.41 GHz is only available
in ITU Regions 1 and 2, which makes it a little tricky for an orbiting
satellite since it is not available in ITU Region 3.

There was a Peruvian cubesat that planned to use it, but the project
was canceled. I believe there were discussions about using it on Eagle
(and maybe on AO-40 as well), but as it's not a worldwide allocation,
presumably that capability would have had to be disabled while the
satellite is over Region 3.
