That's probably the Triton-1 CW beacon.

Paul,

That's why I bought a TH-D72 rather than the TH--D74.? I don't know why they
took full duplex out of the D74.? 73 Ray

Being neither a grid-chaser nor a ragchewer, I hesitate to get involved in
this debate, but my flak jacket is on so here goes.

There is a fundamental difference between FM satellites and linear
transponders: every LEO FM satellite that has been put up so far has only
one channel, while linear transponders can accommodate several QSOs at the
same time.? Thus, for those of us operating from densely populated areas,
using an FM satellite to talk with friends seems a misuse of available
resources.? It also creates an incentive to run excessive power in order to
keep others from taking over the channel.? A linear transponder is much
better suited to that type of operation.? Rapid-fire grid-chasing,
state-chasing or DX chasing, on the other hand, can easily make 3 or 4 QSOs
per minute, a more efficient use of a single-channel transponder.

That's my input.? Now I'll go back to CW.

Hope everyone is doing well! When using SATPC32 on a Windows 7 computer I
get this error message. Since I purchased the SATPC32 program I had this
happen 4 times in the last couple of weeks. Only way for me to fix is
uninstall and re-install as new. It than works fine for awhile and up comes
the error message again. Is there something I doing or is it Windows 7
problem or SATPC32.

Speaking of CW beacons, I tried to copy the CW beacon from CAS-4B this
morning and all I found was a continuous tone/carrier. It was doppler
shifting so I assume I was hearing (and watching on waterfall) the satellite
but no CW. Is this normal? Does it just send code on certain occasions?

I have used a friend's drone to inspect antenna issues without climbing
110'.

It was VERY useful, let me plan the work and climb ONCE.

IMHO, a private drone for sale IS appropriate to this list.

I noticed this as well, about a week or two ago. The very next pass, the
CW was back on. Transponder operation didn't seem to be affected at all.

Anyone in North America experimenting with DiSEqC Control for Tracking ??

DiSEqC (Digital Satellite Equipment Control), pronounced "Die-Sec", is a
special communication protocol for use between a satellite receiver and a
device such as a multi-dish switch or a small dish antenna rotor.
DiSEqC was developed by European satellite provider Eutelsat, which now acts
as the standards agency for the protocol.

Peter,

I had the same problem until I looked back through the general
documentation. Was not clear in the 9700 setup instructions.

When you bring up the radio setup it comes up showing "Model" in the top
pull down field next to "Radio 1". Select Icom radio button, then you need
to click on that pull down field and select the third choice which is
"Addresses" it should show "$A2 $A2" in the pull down field just below. If
not, you can activate the pulldown and select the correct one or adjust each
field using the "up/down" arrows beneath each address that is shown.

Hope that makes sense.

Subject: [amsat-bb] Satpc32 and ICOM 9700

I'm confused, the address for my radio is A2h but the choices inside
Satpc32are nothing like that. What am I missing?
Also, how can you confirm the program and radio are communicating? How can
I force the program to do something to the radio and thus show me that they
arein contact with one another? I've turned on CAT and it goes plus without
anerror but that's not enough THanksPeterW2PP
