Peter,

I forgot two important adds about selecting the 9700 and the correct
Baudrate which ARE described well:
http://www.dk1tb.de/IC9700_settings.htm

I use the USB settings and they work as advertised. Some folks say the C-IV
setup works more reliably, but I have not seen a difference except that the
USB speed is more lively.

Not my best day to concentrate...

Peter,

I had the same problem until I looked back through the general
documentation. Was not clear in the 9700 setup instructions.

When you bring up the radio setup it comes up showing "Model" in the top
pull down field next to "Radio 1". Select Icom radio button, then you need
to click on that pull down field and select the third choice which is
"Addresses" it should show "$A2 $A2" in the pull down field just below. If
not, you can activate the pulldown and select the correct one or adjust each
field using the "up/down" arrows beneath each address that is shown.

Hope that makes sense.

I'm confused, the address for my radio is A2h but the choices inside
Satpc32are nothing like that. What am I missing?
Also, how can you confirm the program and radio are communicating? How can
I force the program to do something to the radio and thus show me that they
arein contact with one another? I've turned on CAT and it goes plus without
anerror but that's not enough THanksPeterW2PP

I see several reports on the AMSAT satellite status page that AO-27 has been
heard, and Scott, K4KDR, tweeted about a QSO with Glenn, AA5PK...

Is AO-27 actually back from the dead?

It's been active at times; apparently a work-in-progress.

Here's the most recent update I've seen, from a tweet this morning from

Nice clean telemetry sounds from AO-27! Almost went back inside then N3UC
turned on the voice repeater! Thanks for the QSO!!! Another new bird in the
bag. Only heard one other op on the pass... He was only turning it on at 1
minute increments...

H to everyone on this board. I've been thinking about purchasing the
IC-9700. I noticed a lot of you arehaving trouble with the Satpc32 program.
I'm sure there are other programs to use with the 9700 and ifso, what are
some of you using and to what extent of success? I have heard of some
drifting problemswith the 9700 and hope that has been resolved by Icom.
Would need your expertise on these issues. Any help would be greatly
appreciated before I decidewhether or not to make that purchase.

I have been trying to find a used Eggbeater or similar antenna to use to
listen for Satellites.
The exchange on the USD to CND currency is a killer. I noticed many plans to
build one on the internet.
Any suggestions which one would be worth trying for RX to start?

I tried to receive the CW beacon from RS-44 around 1600 UTC today, but
didn't pick up anything. Did anybody else hear it (or see it on a waterfall)?

To be honest, I had better results using a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna
(the kind you make with an SO-239 panel mount fitting and 4 radials) than
the typical "rectangular" DIY eggbeater (using exclusively with
satellites). I would recommend making a QFH.

The last few satnogs observations don't show any CW.

A lot of us are not having trouble too. I followed the published
instructions to get my 9700 setup with Satpc32 and was successful. It's
definitely not something where you can wing it. If you are wanting full
doppler control and antenna control, Satpc32 will do it for you.

Gerald,

Okay, but don't let the BB lead you astray. There are many of us using
SatPC32 with e IC-9700 without difficulty. I am sure those having
problem will work it through. Both the IC-9700 and SatPC32 working
together make an excellent satellite station.

About ARISS:

?

Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) is a cooperative
venture of international amateur radio societies and the space agencies that
support the International Space Station (ISS).? In the United States,
sponsors are the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT), the American
Radio Relay League (ARRL), the ISS National Lab and National Aeronautics and
Space Administration (NASA). The primary goal of ARISS is to promote
exploration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEAM)
topics by organizing scheduled contacts via amateur radio between crew
members aboard the ISS and students in classrooms or public forms. Before
and during these radio contacts, students, educators, parents, and
communities learn about space, space technologies, and amateur radio. For
more information, see www.ariss.org.
