I and other have pushed 20-25w through one without issue.

Kevin,

I'm sure you were correct about safe mode. More than likely one of our
crack control stations brought HO-107 back to life!

Mike,

The 0.5w while is on the spec sheet for the BLP.... many of us use it and
use way more than 0.5w.

https://twitter.com/w8lid/status/1172144221081542657?s=20

As someone who has an IC-9700, I do not suffer desene with mode J (and
don't use the BLP on my setup). I'm betting those who do have J-Mode
issuses have 1 of 2 problems 1) higher SWR or 2) running to much power.

As I stated in a previous e-mail:
I have to say I'm not getting desense with my IC-9700, unless I'm using
more power than is needed or should be using on the SSB Sats.

Maybe try to lower your power? RS-44 can easily be worked at around 2% (2w)
power and I work SO-50 at 0-3% every time (500mw-3w)

I put 30 watts through mine all the time. It's had 70 watts put
through it and survived.

W8LID got an explanation of the power rating from the manufacturer.
I'll see if he can post it here.

I don't think you were dreaming. When I checked this morning, the first
line of the HuskySat Telemetry page (
https://www.amsat.org/tlm/health.php?id=6&port=) said "Safe", but the "Safe
Mode" indicator in the Spacecraft Status block said "False". So something
was going on.....

It hasent been put into LOTW yet. It only just officially got its OSCAR
number which makes its legally a Amatuer Radio Satellite. I am sure it will
be added very soon.

If it works, awesome! Problem solved.

I tend to trust the data the designer publishes first. After all, they
know the limit of the components they use.

I would be concerned that any heat generated by the RF power would change
the specs of the components used and that may result in more attenuation
and may change the design specs. That could also result in higher SWR
values.

If I had one, I would sweep it to make sure it still works as it should.
Maybe someone who has a tracking generator has done that already.

There is a big difference between 0.5 watts and 25 watts.

500mwatts is about 14 V P-P and 25 watts is 100 V P-P

The manufacturer's power rating for this part is much higher than a typical,
operative term, sat radio will put out. I use the Comet CF-360 with 100W and
have experienced no heating of the duplexer.
It is however, not to be used outdoors where it can be exposed to
precipitation. If used outdoors an easily made enclosure can be made from a
tupperware or like product. I use the plastic takeout containers we get here
in coastal CenCal. Right now I have a gazillion of them.? lol

You can say "over", you can say "out", you just can't say "over and out".

If it works, awesome!? Problem solved.

I tend to trust the data the designer publishes first.? After all, they
know the limit of the components they use.

I would be concerned that any heat generated by the RF power would change
the specs of the components used and that may result in more attenuation
and may change the design specs.? That could also result in higher SWR
values.

If I had one, I would sweep it to make sure it still works as it should.
Maybe someone who has a tracking generator has done that already.

There is a big difference between 0.5 watts and 25 watts.

500mwatts is about 14 V P-P and 25 watts is 100 V P-P
