Hardware and software for Fox have an enormous amount of design information
available in AMSAT symposium proceedings, available from the AMSAT store.
That is a great place to start.

There are a bunch of US laws and regulations regarding spacecraft design
that have so far prevented AMSAT from making things as open as all of us
want. That being said, interested parties can work with AMSAT Engineering
to get good design info and perhaps help open up the information even more.
The government seems to be much less concerned about balloons vs spacecraft.

I would think some Philadelphia based Sat. Ops. might be able to get the
state on air.
I hope to be in the general area in late November and might make a day trip
to DE. Not sure about the trip yet but that seems to be a demand I could
fill.

Hi all,

Just to add a positive comment about AMICal Sat's mission. If the
satellite works well and there is a good management plan from spacecraft
operators, we as Amateurs could be receiving and processing aurora
images taken by the satellite, and learning about digital protocols,
CMOS image sensors and space weather. See

https://destevez.net/2020/03/decoding-images-from-amical-sat/

for an idea of what this can look like.

Of course this needs a lot of non-technical work of engagement between
the satellite operators and the Amateur community so that a fruitful
cooperation can happen. Only time will tell to what extent this will
happen, but my view is already positive since that work linked above was
done in collaboration with Julien F4HVX, who was collaborating with the
satellite team. So we already see that this project is not completely
alien to the Amateur radio community.

However, I also value and generally agree with the comments about many
satellites using Amateur radio spectrum without adding any real value to
the Amateur radio community. Regulatory matters aside (IARU satcoord is
working really hard with this), I prefer to think positively about these
as "missed chances of cooperation between the Amateur community and
academia/education, or even the private sector (but take with a lot of
care due to the non-profit character of Amateur radio)".

Best,

Dani.

Thanks Dani,

A big thumbs up!!

From my experience, it is really rewarding in working with these
universities and students, many of them are in the process of becoming
licensed radio amateurs or are already.

They are eager and open minded and by supporting them and letting them
experience the community we will have space industrie ambassadors for
the future.

And for those small groups that don't want to comply to the official and
gentlemen agreements we should confront them and send them to the right
authorities.

My big concern is that all these documents even with schematics or anything
are no use to open-source projects unless they have a license because with
out a license they might as well be All Rights Reserved.

What most people don't know is there is a small piece of Delaware on the New
Jersey side. I used to drive there from my home that's near Philly in NJ to
give out DE. So maybe someone in Central NJ can also put DE on the air....

Several are asking about a Delaware contact. DE has always been rare on
satellites. It was one of the last I needed for WAS more than a decade
ago.

The most recent op that I am aware of was WA3X. He has no email in qrz
and hasn't uploaded to LOTW in about a year.

N8HM operated from there as W3ZM/3 in October 2019. Maybe Paul could be
persuaded to take the train up there and satisfy the demand for Delaware?

Dear All,

Just to let you know that Patrice (3B8FA) ad myself did superb QSO via the
iSS FM repeater just a few minutes ago. Working fine 59+ both ways on V/U
(145.990/437.800 MHz), really nice to have the ISS repeater back on air.

Why, yes there is. It's called the Supawna Meadows National Wildlife Refuge,
managed by the US F&W Service.

Jean,I'm so glad you are having successful QSOs through our new ISS IORS in
repeater mode. These signal reports are important to us. It's been in
operation less than a day, so we're happy to hear all is going well. Please
continue to check us at our website at?http://www.ariss.org,?on twitter at
ARISS_status, facebook at Amateur Radio On The International Space Station

Dear All,

I forgot to say, in spite sending it to the 3B8 mail forum, that this is a
good example that we do great things as a worldwide community and that one
and all contribution to AMSAT or ARISS is most welcomed, space is expensive
and without your contribution, just a cup of tea or coffee multiply by
millions of OM makes a huge differences for the most wanted HEO/GEO's from
all. Without the financial resources we will eventually fail in the long term.

Just an appeal to one and all to promote the hobby to higher altitudes.
