Sure is! I got mine from Ham Radio Outlet in the US. There are both manual
coax switches and relays. For two antennas I added a diplexer on the dongle
side and one switch for each antenna

 Hello to the group??..

Does anyone have the specifics on how to setup two IC706 MKII-G?s for
satellite ssb/cw operation (duplex).

I?ve done a bit of browsing and read the manual but remain confused on the
hardware needed when using
my Compaq laptop (no serial port), only USB?s.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Tom,

All you'll need is two good quality USB to CI-V cables. I've played
with one with my Icom IC-R10 receiver that I got on eBay, but I'll let
others who use more Icom equipment than me make specific
recommendations. The problem with some of the cheap ones is the
proliferation of counterfeit and poor quality USB to RS-232 chipsets
from China.

When you get the cables, set the two IC-706 CI-Vs to different
addresses in the menu, and you can set them up in SatPC32 no problem.

Of course, you can always just tune each radio manually! I find manual
Doppler correction to be fun and even if I had a permanent home
station, I'd probably operate manually a good portion of the time.

One solution is cheap launchers. There's someone who's working on not
just a system but a methodology by which someone can send a payload
into orbit very quickly. However, from that I've heard, he's a long
way from that goal.

Another is launching several spacecraft at the same time, much like
what has been done in recent years. The SHERPA system that was
recently announced is one possibility. However, should that
malfunction, then all the satellites on board will likely be lost,
which is what happened with the KickSat.

Tom,

Radio Shack 20-546 works fine and I find in stock in the stores. Look in the
scanner area. Comes with right drivers on CD

The older 20-047 models are fine too.

Be sure to use the stereo to mono adapter that comes with it and plug the
mono plug into the CI-5 connector of the radio.

Ive used this on many radios of these models:

IC-910H
IC-9100
IC-703
IC-7600

Your mileage may vary...

(With a F stereo 1/8" to M 8pin mini din wired properly this USB adapter
works for FT-817 also...)

Thanks,
Mike

Greetings,

I will be operating portable and activating EN62 on SO-50. My pass starts at
0146Z (2046hrs CDT). If you need the grid this is your chance. I will
confirm on LOTW, eQSL, or direct.

Tom,
as Paul wrote already change the Icom address of one of the IC-706MKIIGs
and enter the two addresses in the "Radio 1" section of menu "Radio Setup".

You can connect both radios to a single Icom CAT cable by using an
Y-adapter on the radio side of the CAT cable. Make sure that the CAT
cable works on Windows 7 and 8, see the reply of Mike, W4UOO.

When the program starts the radio with the first of the two addresses
will run as the RX.
In menu "Radio Setup" check the option "Autom. RX/TX Change". The
program will then automatically change the roles of both radios as RX
and TX. when you switch between u/v and v/u sats and you don't need to
switch the 2m/70cm antennas between the radios.

Leave option "Satellite mode" and all other options in the menu un-checked.
