I had tried to make reservations this afternoon, and I can add this
information to Martha's:

None of the rooms available on Friday and Saturday have two beds. So if
you're looking to book a room to share, this could be a problem. I was
looking to book a room to share for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday nights, but the only night that they could guarantee that I'd get
a room with two beds was Thursday.

Such is life for the procrastinator! (Sigh.)

The seven degree pass came in pretty good here in Raleigh, FM05.
Eventually I'll make a video of this reception.

These are the relevant questions:

6. Being at a military school right now, I'm very far from home; I
miss my parents

and my own bed. What are some things that you miss when you are away
from home, or

what do you wish would be put into the ISS to make you less home sick?

7. In the case of an emergency, how is the evacuation process executed?
* I think this one wasn't asked and the next one was asked instead

8. If an astronaut experiences an open flesh wound or medical
emergency in space,

then how are these injuries treated?

9. Since the Curiosity Rover has gone to Mars and the next step would
be to colonize

Mars, how do you think the travel through space would affect the astronauts
both

physically and mentally?

10. Is it possible to create artificial gravity in space? If it can be
made, then why

isn't it used on the ISS?

11. Has NASA come up with any solution to the negative effects of long
term space

flight on astronauts.

12. Why did NASA transition from astronauts being former pilots to a much more

diverse community?

13. Are you able to see a difference in the color or in the currents
of the Pacific

Ocean due to the changes in water temperature caused by such things as El
Nino?

14. What is the coolest thing you've ever seen up there?
* This question wasn't responded to

Michael,

I think this is an issue of perspective. Because of the angle of the
photo it looks backwards. I have seen the same results from other
photos taken "looking down the barrel" at an antenna.

Yes. Several have. I got mine last night.

You're on the list, so it's just a matter of time.

Hello group!

I'm new to the list and I'm looking to dive deep into the satellite end of
the hobby. I am currently building a decent az/el station, and can't wait
to work some birds.

One of the other things I really want to do is hit the digipeater on the
ISS and decode telemetry.

So I began working on APRS using AGW Packet Engine with UISS by ON6MU.

I've managed to configure my station to decode packets and I can even send
them, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how trigger the IC9100
to transmit. I'm using the digital mode on the 9100, and if I manually hit
transmit on the radio, I can send a packet successfully...

However, after following the instructions here (
http://www.issfanclub.com/node/37988) I still can't figure out how to
"create ports that are linked" nor "split the ports" nor use the ICOM
Keyer / AGW interface to facilitate RTS

The 9100 is using COM9 and COM10 on my computer. I can get the 9100 to key
with WSPR and WSJT, but not with AGW/UISS.

I was hoping to use Ham Radio Deluxe to manage the doppler, and not SatPC

Any IC9100 owners have a similar setup and have any ideas or insights?
...or has a similar problem been solved before?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Lou

PS. I will be joining AMSAT :)

I can't comment on the rest, but HRD is broken for anything other than the
FM satellites when it comes to tuning for Doppler. SatPC32 is far superior.

Welcome to the group.

Here's a bit of information if you're in the area of the Kennedy Space
Center. Sending it now because waiting for the weekend news cycle would make
this story old ...

NASA Kennedy Space Center Community Day

NASA is hosting the sixth annual NASA Kennedy Space Center Community Day
(formerly known as NASA Family Education Night) at the Kennedy Space Center
Visitor Complex on Sept. 19, 2015 with free admission from 2-6 p.m. EDT.

The event, targeted for K-12 students and their families, will focus on
science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, with the theme
"Port to the Future." Educational activities and demonstrations will
highlight the future of America's space program and allow children to engage
in awesome experiments and cool demonstrations, make and launch rockets, and
talk with a former astronaut.

For more information, visit https://twitter.com/NASA_KETI and

Please direct questions about the event to Liz Wise at liz.wise-1@xxxx.xxx.

[ANS thanks the NASA Education Express Message -- Sept. 17, 2015 for the
above information]

I work two US station in CW with distance record in 2008.
My elements are very simple: FT-726R with 10w input(I opined about 5w output)
Now my antennas: In tx: Diamond X-200 vertical and in Rx: 5 element Yagui
