Hello,

It was certainly an historic visit and amateur radio had another reason to
celebrate with the overwhelming activity on all bands and modes.

The amateur satellite operators supported this special event as well
exchanging greetings, grids and appreciation for the operators who donated
their time to give their contacts an opportunity for a special QSL and
certificate.

I would like to thank Paul, N8HM, Wayne, NM3B, Jeff, KB2M and Paul, W2HRO,
2M EME for making this event a memorable one for those operating on the
amateur satellites and EME. Thank you.

I loaded the pre-launch keps for LAPAN-A2 that were provided here:
http://www.amsat.org/?p=4571

Using the SatPC32 Tracking, Preview menus, I was in the footprint on a
couple of passes. The max elevation was less than one degree on one pass
and less then two degrees on the other. I am located at 33.323 N
latitude. When they revise those keps, if the inclination turns out to
be higher than was indicated in the preliminary keps, there is a chance
that I may be able to use that satellite, especially since it is running
5 watts.

Red,

At 36N in EM65, the best pass I could find was a -1.4 degree elevation. All
the rest were worse.
Looks like our friends to the south are going to have their very own
satellite.

Just for fun I ran Tampa and it gives well over 2 hours a day of coverage.
I bet Hector will be
pleased. Hi Hi!

Hi Alan and Red

It is very exciting to have a bird 10 times in the day, even more when it
has a 5W downlink.

Hopefully, this bird and FOX 's will bring back AO-51 's epoch.

Ted,

The Doppler.SQF lines that I am using for LILACSAT 2 are:

LILACSAT 2,437200.0,144350.0,FM,FM,NOR,0,0,FM VOICE ?10 kHz on for 24
hours starting at 2200Z MWF
LILACSAT 2,437200.0,437200.0,FM,FM,NOR,0,0,APRS
LILACSAT 2,437225.0,0,USB,,0,CW Beacon

So the uplink frequency you are looking for is 144350.0

I see Celestrak now has objects 2015-052A, B, C, D, and H in the tle-new.txt
file. These are all roughly the same altitude and 6 degrees inclination. One
is out in front of the others significantly. Probably pretty easy to look at
the RCS and figure which is LAPAN-A2, as it is fairly big compared to the
other secondary payloads.

For my location at ~28.3N, I see about 5 passes a day, clumped together in a
row, with max elevations of 3-4 degrees, and max length of ~7-8 minutes. I
think if you are north of 30 degrees, you will be out of luck on this one.

When the APRS digi is activated, I will plan on a gateway with a good
performing low elevation antenna. This could become an important resource to
boaters and such in the Caribbean, especially with the high revisit rate. It
will be quite the boon for the low latitude ops who don't get the same
number and quality of passes from polar orbiters as those north of the
tropics!

73, Drew KO4MA

Hello All,
Lilacsat was ON over USA sounding strong but pretty crowded on the 0:15 UTC
pass.. I managed to work a bunch of stations on there, The bird can be hard
to get into for me for some reason, But other than that its better than
SO-50. Hopefully we can see people working LAPANSAT soon too!
