I've been copying the CW beacon from XW-2C and I'm wondering if there is
telemetry in there somewhere. I get mostly "T" but not all the
characters are T. If someone knows more about the CW beacons on these
satellites or can point me to a URL, I'd appreciate the info!

Thanks

Here you go, Steve.

http://www.dk3wn.info/software.shtml

... translate to English if you wish & search down the page for "XW".

There is a section for XW-2E, -2F CW Telemetry Decoder

-and-

just below it, a section for XW-2A, 2B, -2C, -2D CW Telemetry Decoder.

Thanks to the efforts of Joe KM1P and Pete 2E0SQL, and with the permission
of David, KD5QGR, we have set up a copy of the OSCAR satellite status page
at http://www.amsat.org/status

This page will be maintained by multiple volunteers, including myself, and
we will be able to add and delete satellites as required, as well as keep
information links current. It will take a few days to populate the database,
but please begin using this page as soon as possible. In the near future the
old page will point to this one for a while, until people get used to the
new address.

There are still some satellites to add and delete, so this will be a work in
progress for a bit. First and foremost we will delete the reentered sats,
and add Fox-1A for next Thursday!

Based on a few emails I've received so far, keep in mind individual
satellites will not show up until they have a report made. Check the whole
list for your desired satellite, for example AO-7 ends up between AO-51
(sobsob) and AO-73.

I am back in VU land now and will be delighted to begin tracking birds.
Will you please help me to get an idea where do I get the details on the
passes of Lapan A2 and the frequencies for listening to start with. N2YO
doesnot help me!

Hi Alan,

I've used my FT-2DE to work SO-50 both simplex and duplex, using the
FT-2DE for the uplink and my FT-817ND for the downlink. The radio works
well, but it is a a bit of a pity that it has only 5kHz steps.

I haven't tried ISS packet with it yet.

yes, someone bothers.

But they're transmitting telemetry on several frequencies in the range
145.600-145.800, which is normally used as 2m repeaters outputs in
region 1. However, it's true that the transponders of XW-2A through
XW-2D haven't been activate and XW-2E and XW-2F transponders are active.
It happens that the one which have transponders downlinking outside the
satellite band are XW-2A to XW-2C, so whether this is intentional or
just a coincidence, I have no clue.

Dani M/EA4GPZ.

After some OTA time what I'm finding out is that my setup here works only
with FM sats. SO-50, CAS-3H, and NO-84(with the FM d/l). All of the linear
birds do not work. What happens with the linear birds is when you first
initialize them upon AOS the frequencies change correctly at the start of
pass but after that there is no Doppler correction on the 817, or frequency
manipulation with SatPC32's Cat tuning drop down box. With the FM birds all
of this works correctly.
If someone actually has this setup working with the linear birds I would
like to see your exact configuration. Either I'm missing something not so
obvious, or there is a s/w bug, possibly in HDSDR.

My setup...

FT-817ND
SDRplay
SatPC32 ver 12.8c
HDSDR 2.70

Yes, I use VSP with HDSDR to full integrate with SatPC32 successfully.

Make sure radio 2 is set to the proper radio type in SatPC32 for the FT-817.
Use radio 1 for the CAT interface to HDSDR. It will appear as a Kenwood
TS-2000. You will need to activate CAT in HDSDR for it to work.

I have used this setup many times for a full automated SDR station on the
satellites with a FUNcube Dongle Pro + and FT-857D.

I've recently been seeing messages about NO-84. Although I don't see it in
my pick list in Orbitron, is this a workable FM satellite and how does one
track it?

This spacecraft is also known as PSAT , in turn short for Parkinson
Satellite. It is for PSK31, not FM.

http://www.aprs.org/psat.html

If it is not available on your off line tracking program, you can find
it as NO-84 on

But the PSK31 downlink is FM on 435.350 where you can hear the waterfall
signals and decode them using any PSK31 software.
Also the APRS downlink is FM on 145.825 too.

Among others, today I installed FoxTelem.exe and XW2a.exe for decoding
telemetry from recent launches.

Both, when run, display a familiar Error-Burp about an "mschrt20.ocx"
being missing or not registered.

Per the install directions on the FoxTelem page, I followed the link to
install VBrun. Having done that, I got the same error. I followed a link
from that to the M/S Visual-Studio page and downloaded/installed that.
Which, BTW, took 30 minutes.

After sys re-start, STILL the same runtime error about missing OCX file.

Search of ALL hard drives here and the OCX file is not at my place.

Now what please?
