At the top of the hour, definitely ON and just dead air (3PM PDT). Then four
mins into the pass, "One two, one two" male voice was heard. Then a minute
later, wonderfully
dead air - no background noise whatsoever - but no telemetry or anything
else was heard.

For the benefit of those of us outside of the United States, is this
test only going on when over North America, going back to safe mode
otherwise? Just wanted to know whether it was worth setting up to
monitor when it passes over Asia.

FWIW it's just passed over Europe in transponder mode. (22.25UTC)

The map at the bottom of the page http://www.amsat.org/tlm/ shows all
command stations are within the USA

MM0KJG / EA1JM and G5RR all heard with good signals

AO-85 Transponder Open Starting 22:25 UTC October 23

The AO-85 Transponder is open for general use again, October 23 until
further notice.

Please watch the AMSAT news outlets (web, Twitter, Facebook, -bb) for
updates on testing and schedule October 26 ? 30. We will likely do some
more testing during the week.

My tracker predicts a 38? high pass tomorrow at 15:30 local time when
it's over China. I expect a rugby scrum. LET'S DO THIS.

I only missed the first and last question with some fading towards the
end. Not bad for an 11 degree pass.

I'm not sure when I'll have time to edit the video so I just did the
audio and narrated the questions myself.

These polarity switching harness' are in excellent condition and complete
for the KLM 2M-22C a 22 element 2 meter circularly polarized crossed-yagi,
and a 435-40CX a 40 element 435 MHz circularly polarized crossed-yagi. Had
purchased them several years ago as a spare to the ones that were
deteriorating on my KLM's. I sold the KLM's, but forgot about the extra
polarity switching harness'. They are in very good shape. I would like to
get $100 plus shipping for them. 20% of the $100 will be donated to AMSAT.
Let me know if you want them as I'm not taking them with me to Florida and
I'm leaving in 4 days. If interested I can send pics.
