I was tuning around to see if I could find you! I worked PV8DX at my AOS
and called CQ until the satellite went over the roof of my apartment
building.

I usually start around 435.130 and tune up until I hear my signal enter the
passband around 145.970. Then I can tune around pretty easily. I do not use
computer control.

Paul, I will try again on the next pass.

Here is more detail on my station.

Attic antennas. No rotator. Both antennas pointed N.

144 MHz is an M2 2M9 SSB with an ARR pre-amp. 100 ft LMR 400

432 MHz is an Elk LPDA. 50 ft of LMR 400.

Rig is an IC910H used, with all the options installed. No computer control.

Man, this should be easy. When I was using the two FT817 rigs, even with 5
watts, it was simple to work stations on VO-52 and FO-29.

Paul, you were wicked strong, like S9, even with the satellite 30 degrees
off the main heading.

I supposed I could use another ELK for 144 MHz, but I would want a short
coax run like for 432. Right now, I have the two antennas about 50 feet
apart in the attic, and I am using the ARR pre-amp for the 144 MHz to make
up for the longer coax run.

One more note. After the pass, I decided to check and see if I was actually
emitting RF on the uplink freq. So I cranked the power all the way down,
sent some dits, and I could hear the RF on one of the FT817 rigs. So I am
transmitting on 70 CM

Your setup should be more than adequate for working AO-73. It's just a
matter of getting the frequencies right. Try my suggestion. I'll look for
you on this pass.

Hi!

Just a reminder that I will have an AMSAT booth at the Superstition Amateur
Radio Club's Superfest hamfest on Saturday (5 December) morning. This
hamfest is at the Mesa Community College, along the east side of Dobson
Road between Southern Avenue and the US-60 freeway in Mesa, Arizona. The
hamfest officially opens at 7am, but I'm sure there will be people at the
hamfest site an hour or two before that. It officially ends at 2pm. More
information about the hamfest is available at:

http://superstitionsuperfest.org/

WD9EWK will work various satellite passes from approximately 6am (1300 UTC)
until either the crowd at the hamfest disappears, or the official end of
the hamfest at 2pm (2100 UTC). Please call WD9EWK and be part of the on-air
demonstrations. After the hamfest, my log will be uploaded to Logbook of
the World, and QSL cards will be available on request (please e-mail me
directly with the QSO details). The hamfest site is in grid DM43.

Thanks in advance, and 73!

Hi all,

The pass over HM77fr around 20:10 UTC showed XW-2F with CW beacon and
telemetry on, but the transponder was off. Adjusted my TS-2000 XIT
between -20 to +20kHz. Nowhere to be found.
Hope it's not another case like XW-2E.
