BJ,
You are right, it absolutely blew my mind watching it land. My only
disappointment was that I couldn't see the launch from Orlando for some
reason. Maybe it was just too cloudy or something.

I use the sun to aim at. Set the controller to the sun az/el and then aim the
antennas by hand and tighten down. Easier with 2 people, one of course with
welders goggles.

I'll be operating from grid EM01 on the 2023Z FO-29 pass and the 2110Z AO-7
pass today.

If the predicted rain doesn't materialize on Saturday (26 December), I'll
return to EM01 to work the 2246Z SO-50 pass until
my LOS at 2259Z, then switch to AO-7 for what's left of that pass.

I shot an arrow in the air. It landed I know not where.

The dude owns a "cb" shop and has an "engineering degree". Chatting
with him for 20 minutes let him know that I knew. Kept arguing with me
about who owns what spectrum.

It took 10 minutes of explaining the use terrestrial FM on a protected
sub band for his eyes to tell me he got it.

Explaining that all we need to know is where they are and then have
the Federales waiting down the road. Literally.

The touch of fear tells me that the message is on it's way.

If you like the Oscar locator take a look here,
http://www.tomdoyle.org/HomePage/HomePage.html
The fourth one down. Download, enter your grid locator, make sure your
computer clock is correct and select satellite and your good to go. Wont
point your antennas or run your rig but it like the Oscar locator your use
to, just the computer version. I use Satpc32 and if you have your location,
PC clock and the Kep's up to date you should be pretty close. Good Luck

i noticed on the "sat passes page" that na 15, 17, 18, and 19 transmit
apt. are these birds still active? i ask because i never see any
tracking info on that page (which i think is very helpful, by the way -
thanks). also are there any other "receive only" wx
satellites/frequencies that may be of interest to an old weather buff,
like me? (even if they just transmit wefax) i'm open to any suggestions
as per satellites and their frequencies. you can answer my via my
private email, if you prefer, or openly - if you figure the amsat group
is even interested. thanks in advance and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!
73,
ben
