An rtl based sdr should work. The internet seems to have several how-to's
to get them receiving APT. Thanks to the list, I've got my fcd playing with
wxtoimg via HDSDR (via CAT interface) vspMGR and virtual audio cable.
Satpc32 drives the rotators.
Only thing I learned is that rather than compensating for Doppler, make the
IF (58kHz) wide enough to contain the whole pass. It works where I am only
because it's RF quiet. Seems to be LHCP, too. At least that seems to be the
strongest signal.
Do use a tripod or a omni. The signal level needs to be relatively
constant, or when the software tries to stitch the image together, a mess
is made. I can imagine a crew of wild eyed students pointing an Elk every
which way but up.

I can second Paul's suggestion. I use a Funcube Dongle 2.0, controlled by
SDR-Radio software. Antenna is a Quadrifilar helix in the attic. Using
WXtoimg I can get some stunning pictures.

Is LO-75 still functioning? Any information would be appreciated.

Nothing heard 8/20/2014 1755z.
Checked both 437.025 and 145.800. No ISS packet, either. I am assuming it
was turned off due to the EVA.

So far the only Galileo satellites in orbit have been the four used for
system test purposes. They have a downlink across 1260-1300 MHz. Thesefour
test satellites havealready resulted in two 23 cm repeaters in Germany being
closed down along with repeaters in Austria.

The deployment of the operational network starts tomorrow, Aug. 21, at 12:31
GMT and the launch can be seen live at:

http://www.arianespace.tv/

http://www.esa.int/esatv/Television

The Galileo constellation will be gradually deployed with six to eight
satellites launched per year.

A paper indicates that an amateur 23cm station running 700 watts ERP could
"knock-out" a user's Galileo receiver at a distance of 18 km (11miles), see

http://www.southgatearc.org/articles/galileo.htm

A chart showing GNSS use of 23 cm is at

http://amsat-uk.org/2014/08/13/23-cm-band-and-wrc-2018/

I'm not that optimistic, I'd have expected Chasqui-1 to start transmitting
within a short time of deployment much like ARISSat-1/KEDR, it looks like
the CubeSat is unable to transmit.

The video at http://amsat-uk.org/2014/08/15/chasqui-1-deployment-from-iss/
appears to show the antenna deployed so perhaps there is a battery or other
issue.

Actually meant the ISS packet radio. In the past, it's been turned off in
preparation of the eva,
Just listened to the last Chasqui-1 pass. Two very low level spurts of rf
in the waterfall display at the right spots. It looked like FM does from
SO-50 at AOS/LOS. Antenna here is 2x21 circular with an ARR preamp. If
it's transmitting, I should hear it.
The ground station supposedly has the capability of a "reset" command.
Lots of people running around trying to fix this, of that I am sure.
The other Peruvian satellite (pucpsat-1) is quiet, too.

Next good pass is tomorrow (51 degrees). I'll have to wake up early (2245
local time). That's normally the time the alarm goes off.
Last three passes were all around 20 degrees.
