Wow, looks like quite a project! That will be really nice to have everything
in one package.

The SDRplay is 12 bit, I believe. Right now I'm going to keep everything
simple as I can. Don't have a place to mount a rotator/array anyways.

Hi Guys,

I am noticing a problem with the audio on SdrSharp.

I have set as Input: [Windows DirectSound] Linea (-2 Funcube Dongle V2.0 )
and as Output: [MME] Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual C.

The problem is while I am using the SDRSharp program and I want to listen a
song or listen an audio file on the Net,

the SDRSharp Audio drops a bit till the audio file is terminated then the
SDRSharp Audio comes up again.

Please how to solve it?

Thanks

Enzo.

Sounds like what my iPhone does when it mutes the audio when in a phone call

Hi,

I did break with the long ham tradition of not reading manuals or help
files and tried adding the file Joe mentioned using the procedure outlined
in my help file. And it worked perfectly.

Here is the resultant "WebDataSources.txt" file

http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/amateur.txt, Celestrak-Amateur.txt
http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/weather.txt, Celestrak-Weather.txt
http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/stations.txt, Celestrak-Stations.txt
http://celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/tle-new.txt, Celestrak-New.txt
http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ftp/keps/current/nasabare.txt, Amsat-nasabare.txt

Here is the information you will see if you click on the rarely used
"Help" button in my program :-)

===== *Optional Really Advanced Feature* ======

*--- Manage TLE Data ---*
The program distribution comes set up in a way that should handle the needs
of most users. If you are a very advanced computer user and have a very
good understanding of satellite tracking and need more continue reading.
The program obtains TLE data two ways. Direct download from the internet is
the easiest. Manual entry of TLE data can also be used. The program
distribution is set up to download TLE data from the following sites.

http://www.amsat.org/amsat/ftp/keps/current/nasabare.txt
http://www.celestrak.com/NORAD/elements/amateur.txt

The program also allows manual entry of TLE data. The TLE data format is
the traditional three line format as shown in the sample for AO-10 shown
below. The first line contains the satellite name followed by the two lines
of TLE data. If the format is not correct - it will not work. To add TLE
data first create a text file. Cut and paste the TLE data into the file.
Remember the first line is the satellite name followed by the two lines of
TLE data. When the file is ready, change the file extension of the file to
.tle and put it into the 'SimpleSatData/SatData/ManualSatData' folder. You
may put as many satellites in a file as you wish and you may have as many
files as needed.

As expected the TLE data you enter this way is not deleted when a web
update is done. This TLE data is also not updated when you do an web
update. As a reminder to myself that this is manual data I put ( ) around
the satellite name. This may not seem important to you now but it is very
helpful.

In the 'SimpleSatData/SatData' folder you will find a file
'WebDataSources.txt'. This file controls which web data sources are used by
the program. If you are a very advanced computer user and have a very good
understanding of satellite tracking you can modify this file to add
additional web data sources. Note that a ' - ' at the start of a line tells
the program not use this source. The file name after the comma is the file
name that will be used to store the TLE data downloaded from the site
specified in the URL before the comma. The file name after the comma less
the file extension is what is used to identify the 'Web Data Source' in the
setup function. It is possible to really screw things up if this is not
done correctly so if you are not a very advanced computer user or do not
thoroughly understand satellite tracking I recommend staying away from this
entirely.
===========================================================

Be sure to click on the "Web Update" button after updating your
WebDataSources.txt file.

If you follow the directions and it does not work the problem lies
somewhere in your computer not the program.

Hope it works out ok for you.

For everyones info:

I did do all as described in the help, AND what many here on the list
said to do, and nothing worked. It kept crashing.

Till one person suggested running the program as Administrator mode.

I tried that and it's ran perfectly ever since! I just LOVE that little
program!

Tom did a great Job with it! I really love the simple second station
thing where with a single click you can see when there are passes where
both stations have the bird in view, soooo cool.

Joe,

Glad everything worked out. When Microsoft tightened up the security on
Windows to allow better access control it did require programs that did
more than basic stuff to run with Administrative rights which had to be set
by an user with administrative rights. It is amazing how many posts you see
on windows developers sites asking how to set the program rights to
Administrative from within the program - it would sort of defeat the
purpose of the whole thing. The only way to eliminate the run as
administrator requirement is to hold an expensive fancy developers license.

I had not looked at my 'SimpleSat Look Down' program in several years. I
have a habit of being more interested in new things and sort of move on
to a new challenge when something is working.

At a very early age my mother noticed my tendency to get bored when things
were working and move on to something new. She told me to never have any
children. "You will get bored with them, move on to something new and they
will starve to death." My web site is a good indication of how wise my
mother was.

Matthew,

Yes - it is quite some project but I've broken the back of it and tomorrow /
early next week will be transmitting with my FT-991 and receiving with the
Airspy, all controlled via one software package.

Wow, looks like quite a project! That will be really nice to have everything
in one package.

The SDRplay is 12 bit, I believe. Right now I'm going to keep everything
simple as I can. Don't have a place to mount a rotator/array anyways.

Excuse me for jumping in, but to expand on Tom's comment about running
programs in newer versions of Windows, you can cure a long list of problems
when it comes to running custom applications (3rd party hobby apps, scripts
you write yourself, etc.) with a simple adjustment.

In your "Home" folder, create a new folder called "Apps" (or whatever you
prefer, but no spaces in the name - just to be safe).

For reference, this new folder would be side-by-side with your Documents,
Pictures, Downloads, Music, & so on.

Then, as you install programs OTHER THAN the big, store-bought applications,
do NOT use the default folder location that is suggested during the install
[normally c:\Program Files -or- c:\Program Files (x86)].

Instead, put all of your recreational programs in the new "Apps" folder in
your home directory where you have full permission to read/write/delete
files.

Now, the excellent software written by folks in the amateur community and
any small scripts that you might make yourself can run without running into
the permission issues that newer versions of Windows have instituted.

Naturally all this comes with the caveat to use extreme caution about what
you install on your computer! Please protect yourself by only installing
software from trustworthy sources, preferably apps that others are already
using successfully.

I hope this is helpful.

She told me to never have any
children. "You will get bored with them, move on to something new and they
will starve to death." My web site is a good indication of how wise my
mother was.

I'm not trying to criticize the people doing the work on remodeling
the store. Stuff happens and without a full-time IT staff, it happens
slowly. I get it. It's fine. More time is needed and that's OK - no
one is going to die and if you *really* need something from the store,
you can call the office (where there is a full-time staff person!).

But for goodness' sake, can we take the date, now >1 week in the past,
off the placeholder page? Just put "closed for remodeling" or
something.
