I just installed and set up Sat32PC for the first time using a single FT817
(will be adding a second 817 and/or SDR dongle shortly) and have a some
questions.

How necessary/critical is the Doppler calibration for working the SSB sats
compared to the file that comes with the Sat32PC package? Is this
calibration "required" or "nice to have?" Can I use a copy of someone
else's calibration file, or will it be too far off to be of any real use
until I can get a good enough antenna system set up to do a proper
calibration on my own?

I am unable to find Fox-1A/AO-85 in the setup files released with the
latest release of Sat32PC. What parameters do I need to enter into the
setup file to get this one to show up in the list of available satellites?

When selecting the NOAA APT satellites, they show up in the lists but do
not set the FT817 to the downlink frequency. Is there something different I
need to do when selecting these satellites?

Thanks for you help! I have only been on the FM satellites with HT's and
this is my first foray into the linear satellites.I am very excited to
expand this portion of my hobby!

Zach,

Don't worry too much about frequent updates of ephemerides. Deep
space spacecraft don't experience as many perturbations as satellites
in low Earth orbit, like (variable) atmospheric drag.

If you really want to dive into serious orbit modeling and tracking,
also for deep space, you should have a look at the General Mission
Analysis Tool (GMAT):

I  have wondered about Zach's question about tracking of bodies in other
than simple Earth orbit, particularly in Trans-Lunar Trajectory or Lunar
Orbit (as in the Cube Quest Challenge). I would be particularly interested
in a solution that could run on a PC without concurrent internet
connectivity. Are there any programs like that out there?

That is what everybody is looking for. But such programs do not
exist. That is why Zach is looking at possibilities to develop such
a solution for amateur use.

It's stored within the appdata folder within your user profile.

if you launch run then execute "%appdata%/satpc32" it should load the
folder for SatPC32 and the TLEs are in the Kepler folder

Hello,



In the past I was successfully digipeating the ISS using my KPC3+, UISS and
AGW Packet engine. After a MB and HD change, I lost the setup. I also lost
AGW or at least messed it up, so I downloaded again. On start, I get a
'copyright violation' box and it closes.



So, how can I get past the 'copyright violation' message or is there a
better way to digipeat using other programs



Any help appreciated

I use DireWolf and UISS for packet via ISS. I've never tried anything
else, so I can't say if it's better or not, but it works fine for me.

The Melbourne, FL Hamfest will be held this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21 and
22, 2016.
Melbourne Hamfest is one of the largest hamfests held in Florida and is
located about an hour southeast of Orlando, between Cocoa Beach and Vero
Beach.

The hamfest is scheduled to open at 1:00pm on Friday afternoon giving you
plenty of time to visit the tailgate and tables inside before the AMSAT
Forum which you won't want to miss.
We've all been hearing about a Geosynchronous satellite project in the works
The AMSAT Forum will be presented by Wally Ritchie, WU1Y on Friday, Oct. 21
at 4:30pm in Forum Room A located in the NE Room of the Auditorium.
Wally's talk is titled AMSAT 4B - The Geosynchronous Ham Satellite for the
Americas.
Wally is deeply involved in development tasks dealing with AMSAT 4B and will
discuss it's current status and looks forward to answering your questions
concerning the project.

AMSAT plans to be on hand on Saturday in the main auditorium with AMSAT
materials and answering general questions you may have current AMSAT
operations.

General information on the Melbourne, FL Hamfest and it's location can be
found at www.pcars.org.

The weather is supposed to be ideal both days.
