Good to know, Alan. Thanks.I haven?t tried it myself, but was told about
the limitation by another ham who was trying to set up SatPC to point and
tune to distant terrestrial repeaters for weak-signal verification prior to
handling an ARISS contact.

ARISS is actively working on a new Interoperable Radio System for ISS. The
primary components are a modified Kenwood D710GA radio and a custom
ARISS-designed power supply. The radio is complete except for final
programming and NASA testing and certification. The power supply design is
in final stages and a hardware prototype has been built. It will power
existing and anticipated ARISS equipment.

The radio by itself is useless without the power supply (the radio needs
13.8 VDC, the ISS provides 120 VDC in the US segment and 28 VDC in the
Russian segment). The power supply will allow ham radio equipment to be
used anywhere on ISS.

The goal is to have this new system aboard ISS about 1 year from now. This
assumes that ARISS can raise the remaining funds needed and that no delays
occur in NASA testing and certification of the entire system. The new radio
system will give ISS a strong 25-watt signal on voice and packet, and is
planned to support a variety of operating modes.

This system was discussed in presentations at last year?s AMSAT Symposium
and you can find details in the 2015 Proceedings. I haven?t seen a
schedule, but I expect there will be updates at the Symposium next month.

I double checked and as far as I know I don't have either of the
symptoms you described. I did run into the object problem under WISP32
and changed it to one number less to prevent the conflict.

When I run the same keps under WISP32 I get the correct readings with
the beacon set to 146.520 and -0 Doppler. So it is working correctly
under WISP32.

Since it seems to work for you and seeing your display, I'm doing
something wrong. So will investigate further. You attachment indicates
it should work, so it is something on my end.

The only time there is a frequency limitation that I know of is when you
go under CAT and try to make a change. There is a frequency limitation
there.

Go figure. I just brought SatPC32 back up this morning and now it is
working fine. I ran just its keps, then added it with the other
satellites and it is still working. In any case, it appears to be
working fine now. Not going to mess with it unless it goes away. Right
now, I have the fake Geos sitting at about 3.5 degrees. I figure if I do
put up my arrays, they'll stay low for local use.

Thanks again Alan for your help and the others that chimed in.

Hi All,

Return to EN-95 & FN05

It looks like the weather will be OK this weekend so I can make up for

I have added a link under the AMSAT tab at http://www.amsat.org to other
AMSAT's around the world. It was on the old site and never got migrated
over. Was easier to just create a new one and here it is.

I agree that MFJ puts out a inferior product in general. In some cases they
put out a product that performs reasonably well for considerably less money.
You recommended the SSB product and that would be my first choice if it
didn't cost $159 more.

I think I can power the Mirage / MFJ preamp from my Yaesu FT-847 directly so
the control box isn't a consideration. I have not as yet made a contact with
the preamp so I'm still evaluating. Thanks for letting me know about the
crosstalk problem. I'll be on the lookout for it. If I find that is the
case, I will return and just bite the bullet. QST reviewed the SSB products
recently and they were impressed enough to run them at W1AW so that's
probably a safe bet.

Thx,
-Steve KC2LNC

Hi to all,

There is a link to get an update at a glance about the to the actual
radios being onboard, it's location, uses and it's operational status?

You can't go wrong with the SSB preamp.

Yes, they're expensive, but you definitely get what you pay for.

When I was getting started in satellites, I cut a lot of corners, and
did things my way because "I knew better".......NOT!

I wound up doing things pretty much the same way the seasoned veterans
did, and could have saved myself a LOT of grief and money if I'd just
followed their suggestions from the beginning.

Hello everyone,

I have a bunch of contacts to enter into Logger32 and I am trying to figure
out how to enter my grid square for my location. Any help?

I'm also curious how you all log your contacts. Do you keep a separate log
just for sats or lump it all together with your hf stuff. I've made a number
of contacts activating other grids and just trying to find smooth way to
keep track of my contacts and VUCC

Thanks,

Chad
