Dead LVB tracker board. Good ADC AZ and EL. Took a lightening strike.
Shot the bug down to the serial port. No output. Is it the uC or the
line driver?

I'll include a direct cross for the latter. Lucky recipient will have
the pleasure of crossing his or her fingers and powering up.

Any 16x2 44870 compatible display will work.

NO LCD, CASE OR BUTTONS. These had a higher calling.

PS: I'll include the never working difficult to find AMSAT official
USB port. Great conversation piece.

I have one more question to make.....

How do you set up SatPc32 so the IC-910 are working split? Like when
SatPc32ISS is stared.
I mean when both up- and downlink are in the same band, or same freq, just
correcting for dopplershift.
So far I have not found anything in the manual. Connecting two different
radios maybe works.......

Hi Paul, you need to run SatPC32ISS. I've never used this program, but
others on here have if you run into any issues.

>From the SatPC32 manual....

1. SatPC32ISS
SatPC32ISS.Exe is a special version of the SatPC32 main program SatPC32.Exe,
that is intended to be used for amateur radio contacts with the ISS or other
transponders with uplink and downlink in the same band ('In-Band'
satellites). The 'normal? SatPC32 doesn't support 'In-Band?
operation.because it switches the satellite radios into the satellite mode.
That mode allows full duplex operation (receiving and transmitting at the
same time). Therefore it requires the uplink and downlink frequencies to be
in different bands.

Why didn't I think of that... slow person maybe.... hi
Honestly, I did not notice the text in that chapter so I have only used it
for the ISS.
I think my "problem" are solved this now.

Thank you so much!

Tigrisat , the Irak's ?first cubesat, is transmitting in 435 MhZ at 9K6 FSK
G3RUH. It's modulation is very clear and easy to decode to anybody that
wants to start to decode this type of satellite. Here you can find a live

I was very saddened to learn of the passing away of Robin Haighton (
VE3FRH)
I had the great pleasure of meeting Robin in the year 2001 during a visit
to the UK for the Amsat Colloquium,
He had relatives over here as his wife had lived in the village of Rhoose,
Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales - Not to far away from my own QTH.
Along with some other colleagues we great pleasure in talking to him and
one of the subjects was ARISS School Contacts
When Robin returned home he very kindly (at his own expense ) sent me a CD
containing a video recording
of the ISS link up with "KC0PCH " ( Parkway Central high School ).
I was able to show this to many other interested parties and youngsters and
it really pioneered the way forward for our hobby.
My most of those in the video have matured and grown up - I am sure many
will still remember the experience.
Many thanks Robin - a very nice and respected person. - RIP.
My thoughts are with family and friends.

I am trying to install equipment for packet communication through ISS. I
thought that UISS software worked with EITHER a software modem OR a TNC, but
reading (at least starting to read) the 75 page manual, apparently it does
not.

Since it does not, please suggest another terminal program or APRS/Packet
specific program.

My approach for the hardware is an old MFJ-1270C TNC. I'm trying to learn
its ins and outs from its 287 page outdated manual. GROINK Additionally, I
have a cable ordered with modular end for my radio (IC-2730).

Any advise or Elmer-ing will be highly appreciated. It has been over ten
years since I had any experience with packet or APRS.

My personal email is either AB5R at AMSAT, ARRL or gp_ab5r@xxxxxxx.xxx

My preference for APRS terminal programs is Lynn Deffenbaugh's APRSIS/32
(http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/). Haven't used Packet by itself
(non-APRS) in probably a decade...

Note the settings recommended for satellite operation, as different from
terrestrial APRS. http://aprsisce.wikidot.com/doc:satelliteops

Enjoy,

Hello Gerald,

Look at AGW Packet Engine, this can be connected to a hardware TNC in
kiss mode.
When that is working connect UISS via the AGW protocol to AGW Packet
Engine.

So the setup would look like:

UISS -- via localhost tcp port 8000 -> AGW Packet Engine -- via RS232
serial --> MFJ-1270C TNC

Very interesting?. As conspiracy theories go? but also scary when you see
the same kind of lies and deception in politicians today that was going on
then too.
