Gridders,

I've had the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel on my Bucket List
for many years and have decided to get it crossed-off this
week.

As a key part of the Trip, I'll be activating Delaware and
several skinny Coastal Grids on Satellites. A number of folks
have mentioned that they still need DE confirmed for their
SAT-WAS.

It'll be a quick trip with driving over 1200 miles in 3 days
with numerous stops for passes and 2 overnights. I'll leave
early on Wed 5/24 and head for Delaware in hopes of getting
there early afternoon for several passes into the late evening.
Thu 5/25 has me heading down the DelMarVa Peninsula to cross
the Bridge by early evening when I'll be in the Norfolk Area.
Fri 5/26 has me on the road for the Home QTH.

My hope is to activate Grid Lines wherever possible to cut down
the traveling. The plan is to do FM29/28/27/26/16 in that order
on FO29, SO50, AO7 and the XW's. I have no set operating schedule
as of now and will be relying on my phone's AMSAT-Droid for the
Pass info. The Q's will all go into LoTW after I return home and
will be posted as simply K8BL as in the past for US contacts.

Hi Bob,

I know several EU ops are looking for Delaware as well. I'm sure they'd
appreciate a try on far eastern AO-7 passes (however unreliable it is in
this low sun angle lately), and maybe even FO-29 for some! Happy to help
spread the word among those circles if you're interested, a few have asked
me for it in the past but I haven't gotten to operate from there yet!

Hope to work you in some new grids and Delaware, have a great trip!

Gabe

Hello All,

I apologize in advance if this query is duncile, However

I cannot seem to get the DDE service to talk to the rotor ( Yeasu GS-232 )
interface.

I can manually send data to the LVB tracker, but the program will not send
data to the port via the Yeasu GS-232 interface.

I have the same issue with HRD as well, however PstRotor software works fine.

I am running on a Windows 10 Note book..

Any help appreciated!!

I have been through the manual, help files and the like. I am about ready to
toss it all out the window.. (Pun intended !!)

TIA

There have been reports that the DDE doesn't work in WIN10, at least for
_some_ people, unless you run the programs as an Administrator. Using WIN7
here, so no firsthand experience.

Hello Jack,
I made a test with my Windows 10 Laptop. I has no physical serial port,
of course , but I have a 4-port USB-to-Serial adapter and in the
ServerSDX setup window I chose one of the generated (virtual( serial
ports. After a re-start of SatPC32 I entered an elevation and azimuth
value in the SatPC32 menu "Rotor" and clicked "Execute". Then the
chosen values appeared in the ServerSDX window. That means that the DDE
output from SatPC32 to ServerSDX works. If i don't choose a valid COM
port in the ServerSDX setup window there is no DDE output to ServrSDX,
however.

This Memorial day weekend I'm going to be traveling to Portland for some
tourism and to activate some grids in CN land. I fly into Portland early
Friday morning and back out early Monday morning. Currently looking at
heading to CN76/77 Friday then south to cn90-93 for Saturday. Since this is
such a quick trip I'll do my best to operate passes that cover the lower 48
but at times it won't be possible. Listen on ao7 and when in mode B I'll
try to use it otherwise all other active voice Sats will be in play.

This is a very interesting item. Being a multi-time Princess cruiser, I
have requested, received permission for, and taken ham radios on a dozen
cruises over almost two decades. Today, in following up on my
unanswered request for our upcoming cruise, I was informed through our
Princess travel agent that the department which handles the amateur
radio requests says that there will be no more permissions given as ham
radios have been added to the prohibited items list by Princess
Security. Interestingly, FRS is not on that same list.

We had a bit of a discussion about it but of course the agent is not in
any position to do more than handling the request to the person in
charge of that, so there won't be any VP9/N0JY/MM on this cruise. To
make it worse, that would also prohibit even taking the HTs along for
use on land as we tour the British Isles. I am totally bummed.

Does anybody on this list work for Princess Cruises, maybe have some
thoughts on this? :-)

Hey Jerry,

Have you considered shipping just the necessary equipmentahead of you
to some location you'll be at in Great Britain? My daughter recently
shipped many thousands of dollars of makeup to a show she worked. Just
had her shipment held for her at the shipping center and she had no
problems picking it up. Of course, an overseas shipment in another thing.

An alternative is buying or borrowing the necessary equipment while over
there. If you buy it, you can just ship it back when you return to the
States.

Just some 'wild' ideas.
