1 - Luminance signal
2 - Luminance ground
3 - Chromanance signal
4 - Chromanance ground
For S Video the normal "Composite" video signal that contains.. frame & line
"Syncs" + the black & white "Luminance" Video + the "Chromanance" colour
signal, is split into 2 components:- Luminance & sync, & a Chromance.
The purpose of having 2 separated signals is to negate the need for filtering
which always comes with some definition loss, & to stop cross colour problems
caused by sharp edges & gratings in the Luminance Jamming the colour signal.

SCART Video Connections
(8 Bit ASCII graphics use code page 437 or 850, Terminal Font)
Not all pins have to be connected. There are different standards....
Type U (universal) - provides connections to all 21 pins.
Type V (video) - provides all connections excluding audio pins (3,1,6,2&4).
Type C ( composite video & audio ) - provides all connections excluding
RGB Video & Blanking pins (15,13,11,9,7,5,16&18).
Type A (audio) - provides all connections excluding Video pins
(19,20,17,15,13,11,9,7,5,16&18)

Cables with 1 overall screen only usable @ 50cm MAX length & will suffer some
crosstalk.
Some cables have 30ê lapped screened AF cable for video & give colour problems
as the screen is quite in inductive at 4.3MHz, proper full mesh crossed braided
screens should be used for all 75ê signal cables.
"S" input 15+20, crosstalk @ 4.43MHz in log cables causes fine patterning!
WARNING
Some VCRs (expensive JVCs) blow internal pcb fuse if the SWITCH tally wire is
shorted to ground! So watch those floating around bare screens inside the SCART
plug!
