Martin Cooper KD6YAM has published a new packet terminal program for Linux, Mac, and Windows called Paracon:
https://paracon.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
This tool has a similar look / feel to my Linpac for Linux tool but offers:
- A simple but intuitive TUI interface that works well both locally and over SSH
- Supports multiple different concurrent connected packet sessions - each in their own tab
- Supports a UI-window to easily send packet UI strings / beacons for say the Sunday Night Norcal Packet net
- Written from the ground up in Python3 so it's easier to support and enhance
- Multi-platform (Linux, Mac, Windows)
- Works with any modern packet setup offers AGW/PE or TCP-KISS protocols like WB2OSZ Direwolf, UZ7HO Soundmodem, G8BPQ QtSoundmodem, etc
- Does not depend on setting up the Linux AX.25 stack which also has some known bugs
In addition to the Paracon packet program, Martin has structured this code to use a set strongly defined Python libraries that he has also published at https://pyham.org/en/latest/ . If you're good with Python, you are encouraged to try using these libraries and create your own packet programs!
