3Y0J: PRESS RELEASE #2 (29 APRIL) ---> Bouvet is like the Mount Everest of
DXCC entities. It is among the most challenging entities to activate due to
significant transportation costs and personal sacrifices required by the
team to make the 42-day round trip. Fortunately, Bouvet is not our first
mountain. We are well prepared for this challenge.
All plans are going well. We are researching polar quality tents and
equipment. We are discussing antenna specifications with various manufactur-
ers. We will make careful choices to help us meet the demand for Bouvet
contacts.
We are delighted to add a second physician to our team. Dr. Mike Crownover
(AB5EB) and Dr. Bill Straw (KO7SS) are both seasoned Emergency Physicians
and will help the team immensely with their expertise.
Our fundraising is going very well. We have received a significant donation
from our longtime friend Y. Zorro Miyazawa (JH1AJT). Zorro has always been
an enthusiastic supporter of our missions and his generosity is greatly
appreciated.
We are pleased to announce that we will receive the ARRL's Colvin Grant, as
well as large donations from the Far East DX-ploiters Foundation, the German
DX Foundation and the Twin Cities DX Association. We would love to add your
Club or your Call to our sponsors pages.
This will be an arduous and expensive mission. Our budget is USD 764,000 and
the 3Y0J team will fund much of this mission. We desperately need the global
DX Community to support our mission and help us make this important activa-
tion of the #2 most wanted DXCC Eentity. It is only through this kind of
support that we can achieve our mission of making 100,000 contacts or more
from Bouvet.
In closing, we especially wish to thank our many Foundation, Club and Indi-
vidual donors. Without this kind of support, operations to the world's
rarest entities would not be possible. Please include your callsign, mailing
address and email address with your PayPal submissions. We would not want to
miss QSLing with you!
You can follow our plans from our website (https://3y0j.com/) and Facebook
group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/3y0jbouvet2023).

CONTEST UNIVERSITY 2021 ---> The Dayton event has been cancelled, but CTU
2021 will still take place on 20 May. It will be held online free of charge
via Zoom, starting at 13.00 UTC. Registration is now open on the CTU website
(https://www.contestuniversity.com/). CTU 2021 will end at 20.35 UTC with
the presentation of this year's CQ Contest Hall of Fame.

HAMVENTION FORUMS 2021 ---> Registration is now opend for this year's Ham-
vention Forums, which will be held online via Zoom on 21 May starting at 15
UTC. See https://hamvention.org/forums-2021/ for complete information.

NCDXF ---> The officers for the Northern California DX Foundation were voted
in on 26 April. The new slate of officers is Kevin Rowett K6TD (President),
Ned Sterns AA7A (Vice President), Glenn Johnson W0GJ (Secretary) and Don
Greenbaum N1DG (Treasurer).
The primary purpose of NCDXF (http://www.ncdxf.org/) is to help fund well-
organized DXpeditions to rare, difficult and expensive entities. Those funds
come from the contributions of supporters in the DX community, who "help
make DX happen". The latest major donation (USD 100,000) has been made to
the Intrepid DX Group's 3Y0J Bouvet Island DXpedition planned for January/
February 2023.
In addition, NCDXF provides scholarships to Contest University for those 25
years of age and under; partners with IARU to operate the NCDXF Beacon
System worldwide; oversees the "Cycle 25 Project", an endowment-fund created
from estate planning.

VP2VB ---> The JIDXM (Japan International DX Meeting) DXpedition of the Year
Award is presented to teams and individuals making an outstanding contribu-
tion to the DX community. The 2020 Award has been bestowed to the VP2VB
Danny Weil Memorial DXpedition, organized to bring the Danny Weil story to
today's amateur radio community. The team (KO8SCA, OH2BH, OH2GEK and VE7NY)
focused on low bands to Japan and Europe, and skillfully utilized CW, FT4,
and FT8, achieving more than 5000 QSOs on the 160 and 80m bands, including
335 QSOs with Japan.

WRTC 2022: POSTPONED ---> The Organizing Committee announced on 24 April
that, "having previously consulted the WRTC Sanctioning Committee", they
have decided "to postpone WRTC 2022 one year to 2023. There have been no
changes in the qualification process or to the overall structure of the
event and its sponsoring committee. A detailed report on the qualification
standings will be prepared and released at a later date.
In consideration of the worldwide public health challenges from the Covid-19
pandemic, we believe our decision is reasonable. We have received many
communications from competitors and friends of WRTC and have taken them very
seriously. There will be further announcements regarding WRTC as soon as new
arrangements have been made".
The World Radiosport Team Championship was due to be held in Bologna, Italy
on 6-11 July 2022 (https://www.wrtc2022.it/).

+ SILENT KEY + Arasu Manohar, VU2UR passed away of Covid-19 on 28 April.
Born in 1939 and active on the amateur bands since 1967 (VU2URZ), he served
as Contests & Awards Manager for the Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI),
as well as IARU Region 3 Monitoring System Co-ordinator from 1999 to 2009.
He enjoyed participating in CW contests, and in 2004 he was awarded the
RSGB's Commonwealth Medal for "providing the most improved score or contri-
bution to the Commonwealth Contest". He also participated in several
expeditions, notably the IOTA operations from AS-106 (VU7M, August 2012),
