Hello all,
If you reach my area through NetRom, you can try the FPAC node
F6BVP-8 near Paris and see what a ROSE network brings.
From your NetRom node, connect to BVPN4 (F6BVP-4):
C BVPN4
You land on the FPAC node, with the same commands as a local user.
Type DOc for a short tour with examples, ? for the list. A few to
start with:
DOc what the node offers, with examples (in English,
or in French after LAng 2)
Wp <call> find where a station lives: its node, its ROSE
address and the date it was last seen
C <call> connect to a station by its callsign alone: the
node finds its address in the White Pages and
routes the call for you
QS get a QSL card confirming your connection, with
a link to download it as a picture
Routes the ROSE routes known by the node
BBs the F6BVP-1 BBS
An example, tried today from a NetRom node:
C BVPN4
C VK7HDM-4
The node looked up VK7HDM-4 in the White Pages, found it at
5050 626300, and connected me to Danny's node in Hobart,
Tasmania. No address, no path to type: the callsign alone.
When you leave the remote node, you come back to F6BVP-8.
ROSE addresses work like phone numbers: a 4-digit DNIC for the
country (2080 France, 5050 Australia, 3100 USA...) and a 6-digit
number for the node. Routes stay short, and the nodes now learn
them from each other.
All this runs on Linux, on PC and Raspberry Pi, with the AX.25,
NET/ROM and ROSE kernel modules maintained in the mod-orphan
project and FPAC 4.2.
Sysops who would like to add a ROSE node to the network are
welcome: I can help with the setup.
73 de Bernard, F6BVP
