IRTS Committee

IRTS Awards
Nominations for “Awards for Services to the Society or to Amateur Radioö and “Awards to IRTS members for Other Achievementsö are being sought by the IRTS Awards Committee.

A request has been made by Larry EI9CN that any members who won prizes last year and who have not already returned them, please could they do so to a local committee member in time for them to be brought to the next committee meeting on the 2nd March, or they can be handed in to the IRTS stand at the Phoenix Amateur Radio Club Rally in Coolmine on February 17th.

Larry hopes to pick them up at the March committee meeting, as he requires some time to have them engraved / repaired if necessary. If unable to return them via the above routes, members may also send them directly to his QTHR.

Cork Radio Club
The February meeting of Cork Radio Club will be held at the usual venue in Carrigtwohill Community Centre on Wednesday next February 20th at 8pm.

Assessment for CW
Following on from Coolmines, further CW assessment will be carried out in Limerick on March 10th and also at the IRTS AGM in Athlone on April 14th. Booking for these tests is essential and intending candidates should contact Dave EI4BZ on 087-6290573 or by email “davebeag /at/ gmail /dot/ comö. South Eastern Amateur Radio Group
The 2019 AGM of the South Eastern Amateur Radio Group will take place on Monday the 25th February 2019 in the Roanmore Social and Sports Centre, Cleaboy Road, Waterford at 8.00 p.m. sharp. As this is the AGM of the group all members are asked to please attend. New members or anyone interested in learning more about the group or amateur radio are as always very welcome to attend also.

Limerick Radio Club
The Limerick Radio Club AGM and was held in the Limerick Institute of Technology on the Thursday 14th February. The incoming LRC Committee for 2019/20 is as follows. Albert Price EI5HXB will continue as QSL Manager.

IECRO Ireland Radio Club
On Saturday 23rd February 2019, IECRO Ireland Radio Club will run a revision course in Mullingar for those wishing to prepare for the license examination in May. DX News
Jean-Pierre F6CTF will be active from Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam (IOTA AS-128) as 3W9JF from 19th February – 6th March. This will be followed by a change of QTH between 16th March – 6th April when he will be in Hoi An using the same callsign. His QSL manager is EA5GL.

Island chasers who missed Dave EI9FBB last October when he activated Vieques Island, Puerto Rico as KP4/EI9FBB for the then new IOTA reference NA-249 will have another chance from 22nd – 24th February. This time a group of KP4 operators will be QRV as KP3RE from Culebra Island which also counts as NA-249. QSL via Club Log OQRS.

George W2AIV will be on vacation in Belize from 23rd February – 2nd March. He will be on 40, 20, 15 and 10m SSB and will also try some slow CW using the callsign V31GF. Logs will be uploaded to Logbook of The World.

The United Nations Amateur Radio Contest DX Club which is based in Vienna, Austria normally uses the callsign 4U1A. To celebrate World Radio Day which occurs annually on 13th February the Club are on the air using the special callsign 4U0R until the end of this month. QSL manager is UA3DX.
