Hello, Brian N1URO and all.

Thanks for your recall about Flexnet, yes it had good benefits.

Most Flexnet apps was PC based in MS-DOS, supports cheap Baycom-type modems,
Soundcard modems and TNC-2 interface. Its need gear of 486/P1 era, although this old
PC hardware can be found almost for nothing, it is very old and can be unreliable.
Windows Flexnet version is too outdated in time of WinXP...

There was few german Flexnet nodes platforms in dedicated hardware but it pretty
expensive in time of its production and now obsolete, after 20 years.

Linux Flexnet software (XNet) - too obsolete and its was support not much range of
AX.25 interfaces, just TNC-2 with special EPROM or some expensive/obsolete ISA cards.

In brief, unfortunately for current time its no any benefits to build Flexnet infrastructure
on old soft/hard for new nodes!
We have new and supported by developer hardware/software like BPQ32/LinBPQ, new TNC's as
RPi-extension boards and software TNCs for modern Windows/Linux that decode AX.25 signal
and process AX.25 L2-protocol much better, than most old KISS-type TNCs!

Of course, I would like the developers of BPQ and other programs to make support for
the Flexnet protocol, then we could replace all obsolete netrom's everywhere
and further improve network performance!

73, Sergej.
