You are correct that so many now are playing amateur internet vs true amateur
radio. Here in EastNet, we only use that to fill in some holes on a temporary
basis, otherwise our main objective is to use true RF for inter node 
connectivity. We do have a map available on our website which you may visit
at https://eastnetpacket.org. We use the flexnet protocol for the most part
which we encap both IPv4 and IPv6 under. IP services under flexnet are
10 fold faster than via NetRom.
