Hello friends

Our transmission Friday (tonight) at 0530-0600 UTC on 7780 kHz does not draw much of an audience. This could be because of its inconvenient time. Or because the signal is not very good at anyplace that we know of. The beam heading from WRMI is 222°. That's close to Australia, but there is too much daylight over the Pacific at 0530 UTC for 7780 to work well most of the year. The 222° beam also includes Central America, but lately I have not heard from any listeners in that part of the world, and I'm not aware of any SDRs there. But the Friday 0530 UTC broadcast can be heard many other places in world, if not brilliantly. Try it, and if you can decode at least 90% of the MFSK32, we can declare it a success.

A reminder that The Mighty KBC has expanded its schedule. The new times and frequencies are in the KBC section blow. The Eric van Willegen hour includes a minute of MFSK64 at 30 minutes past.

Videos of last weekend's Shortwave Radiogram (program 287) are provided by Darau Blė in Lithuania, Scott in Ontario and an excerpt by IZ0298SWL in Italy (all Friday 1300 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in the UK. Analysis is prepared by Roger in Germany.

Here is the lineup for Shortwave Radiogram, program 288, 20-23 January 2023, in MFSK modes as noted:

 1:40 MFSK32: Program preview
 2:48 MFSK32: NASA's Geotail mission ends after 30 years*
9:27 MFSK64: Spray coating blocks RF with flip of a switch
13:33 MFSK64: This week's images*
28:06 MFSK32: Closing announcements
