Hello friends
This is the time of year when time changes and frequency changes can complicate
our shortwave listening. In most of North America, clocks will move forward one
hour on Sunday, March 12. The only impact this weekend is that the "red-eye"
transmission of Shortwave Radiogram will be one hour later by local time, e.g.
4:00 am EDT, because it stays at the same UTC time. The Mighty KBC broadcast
also stays at 2200-2400 UTC Sunday, so it will be at 6-8 pm EDT starting this
weekend.
Most of Europe will change clocks forward March 26. That same date is the
beginning of the A23 shortwave frequency season. More on that later this month.
Spring in the Northern Hemisphere also means flowers are blooming -- somewhat
early this year due to the warm temperatures. This provides an abundant supply
of flower photos which will be transmitted as MFSK64 images in the next few
weeks. I hope we don't suffer from flower fatigue by the time we get through
April.
The present season is also changing gray (grey) line propagation on HF
(shortwave). Chris in New Zealand sent an email report of reception of the
Friday 0530-0600 UTC show on 7780 kHz (see below). This 7780 frequency was
reliable for New Zealand and Australia when it was used for the Monday 0800 UTC
transmission, but now WRMI uses that time and frequency for Voice of Indonesia.

Scott in Ontario (Friday 1300 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in
the UK. (We miss the weekly analysis provided by Roger in Germany, who is on
sabbatical.)

“This is a Music Show” Most of the show is a music show, but the host
transmits some MFSK-64 text and image near the end of the broadcast. Its
transmitted on WRMI, Thursdays at 0200-0300 UTC on 5850 kHz (Wednesday evening
in the Americas). Also look for a waterfall ID at the beginning of the show.

Pop Shop Radio from British Columbia, Canada, includes "a whole variety of pop
music, such as records from the 1960s and 1970s that were played on Top-40
radio stations not only in North America but also on offshore radio and
