If you've been following the threads my PE1BIV in regards to dupes, you'll
notice one of them is about JNOS2 and how he insists there's issues with
SMTP forwarding. First I'll address the comments by him:
PE1BIV has never nor does run JNOS2. Comments were made completely blinded
and out of ignorance from not knowing the software. The mail forwarding
sessions in question were NOT nor were ever done via SMTP between I0OJJ
and N1URO, and as I've mentioned many times as a programmer within xNOS
(and now URONode) I didn't question the fact a bug existed, it was more
where was this bug and how to fix it. As a long term friend of Maiko's
I was most happy to help identify this bug and perhaps try and help fix
it. The repeated complaining by PE1BIV was absolutely and totally of no
help. In the time he wasted in griping about JNOS2, it took me much LESS
time finding and identifying the bug - and putting in protection against
it - once I had what I needed from I0OJJ.

Now onto the bug...
A race condition exists within how one configures forward.bbs.
Older documentation suggests the use of parameters after the area bbs.
Also it suggests that the sysop may put in a timeout timer on incoming
ctexts (which is why they should never be used!.. and is against NetRom
specs). In any event, these lines have been causing JNOS2 to ignore the
incoming SID and present mail without a BID.

I never use such things as I'm a 24/7 service station... so in that sense
I may have been ignorant to what these specifically are to do. Unfortunately
it wasn't until this afternoon did Gus share his config with me and I was
able to clone it on my system. To my surprise, this was it and for the first
time I witnessed my JNOS sending mail without a BID as seen by the traces:

I0OJJ now tries to send me P mail. Note: This JNOS2 is set to forward
using FBB 2 to my JNOS2 set as FBB 2 (FBB compressed batch forwarding).
You'll see the SID is ignored and I0OJJ ignores all FBB protocols, yet
fails to send a BID:

My suggestions to Maiko:
1) strip out these parms in forward.bbs. They're really not required.

2) add my patch so that NO mail can be accepted if it does NOT contain a
BID - period.

3) since a BID does indeed exist, perhaps we need to read in the R: line
first as to be able to grep out the BID and present it as it should.

Angela - you're welcome.
