This has gotten so off topic perhaps we should stick to the original TAPR documentation which was the original question at hand? This isn't about which PBBS software is better, I would think we all outgrew the
"my dad is better than your dad" phase in life. Maiko is a longtime and dear friend, and he's done a wonderful job with JNOS... so much to the point he's doing all he can to keep it from sinking into the bitbucket along with the other xNOS softwares. Jean-Paul did a great job with FBB, and I know John is doing what he can with BPQBBS - not to forget Paula with her X-router BBS. I only continue to run MFNOS as a tribute to K2MF, and it's a DOS based system, and works pretty good for a DOS based xNOS; but that is not about 4-continent addressing. We need to get on track or let the thread die :-)

That depends how he configures his system. One could configure xNOS to rewrite .eu into SMTP->inet or SMTP->PBBS. As K2MF used to complain about all the variants of xNOS is that the mail system is SMTP based and was never truly designed for PBBS usage. The hacks to make it work, however, are quite genius. I do agree though, if the addressing is "standard" on the internet then as a safe-guard PBBS mail should use a slightly different addressing as an added protection against unwanted and possibly illegal 3rd party communications link.
Can we also please no longer send these to: SYSOP@WW? Maybe use PBBS@WW?
