Correct, you are in error again. I'll explain why below.

LinFBB handles this properly. Also to ignore Windows as a current OS for
many is absurd my friend. While I don't use it either that doesn't mean
that it's to be forgotten as you suggest. When it writes files it writes
by default in all UPPER casing. I don't think you'll be able to convince
Bill Gates to change the way his OS operates.

As a programmer do you know how you achieve this? You do this by looking at
a common denominator to compare to which in this instance would be a mix of
OS between linux/unix and windows/dos which would be all UPPER CASE and
you convert the BID casing to match such. When you do this, then ALL BBS
have no choice but to maintain the same BIDs.

Also in regard to OpenBCM, a BID is created by taking the local
MID and adding _<bbscall> to it. This is done for debugging purposes so that
in the event of a bad/grunged message it can easily be back traced to its
origin to see if any issues with said mail is how it is/was originally stored.
How can one debug a mail numbered 5AUI0OJJ on I0OJJ from a bid of 5AUI0OJJ_008?
One debugging may be coming in via 300 baud HF and won't have the desire to
list hundreds of stored bulletins to find the one they're looking to compare
their copy with on your OpenBCM. Until such time where HF packet vanishes,
we should always consider their environments as we need to consider DOS/Win
environments hosting BBS mail.
