Ken, others ...

I just made an interesting series of tests with removing & reinstalling
fbb.conf file(s) I have here:

1. At first I tested PING server with *both* copies of fbb.conf file. It
responded properly and returned a msg having Subject: Re: test, and this
content:

Ping received by YT7MPB at 18:11:17 On 16/10/20

 > test
 >

*** PING V0.14 (03-Sep-2001) for XFBB 7.01+ by G0LGS ***

2. Then I erased the fbb.conf instance in /usr/local/etc/ax25 (means
that only one copy was left in /usr/local/etc/ax25/fbb), and repeated
the same test with PING server. It returned a msg having Subject: ***
SERVER ERROR ***, and this content:

Error starting server PING (fbbping)

3. Then I re-copied fbb.conf from /usr/local/etc/ax25/fbb to
/usr/local/etc/ax25 again, and repeated the same test again. It done as
under 1. (responded properly and returned a msg having Subject: Re:
test, and this content:)

*** PING V0.14 (03-Sep-2001) for XFBB 7.01+ by G0LGS ***

4. Finally (and just for curiosity), I removed fbb.conf residing in
/usr/local/etc/ax25/fbb *and* restarted FBB. It refused to start telling
it could not find the file fbb.conf in /usr/local/etc/ax25/fbb

So I had to re-copy fbb.conf from /usr/local/etc/ax25 to
/usr/local/etc/ax25/fbb to come back to a fully workable system.

So still have two identical copies of fbb.conf file. Any idea?
