If you feel like messing around with BBS and shell UNIX again, consider www;.sdf.org

The old SDF BBS has been around for a long, long long time.
Still running. Check it out !!

Warren et al;

Wow thanks for making me feel like I could have invented dirt! :)

Back in the day I had a dialup bbs. Started with a single line Renegade
system, then made it 2 lines under Desqview. Migrated it to OS/2 then
scrapped it all for a 6-line MajorBBS. Worked with some guys in Tx to
get Fidonet into Major (that was "interesting" to say the least) but
got it working. Also had dialout into a shell account with a nice
bash menu system so users could dial into the account and surf, email,
ftp, etc. In a sense I was our area's first ISP.

Also for those who I knew where hams and before I dumped it all for X1J-4 and
F6FBB BBS, I had a door machine with a KPC-3 on it. Guys could dial in,
login and then if another ham wasn't on it they could packet out on the
then NetRom network. When they were done, sometimes they'd go into our
chat rooms and mingle with the others who weren't hams, and try to talk
up the hobby. Was a lot of fun.

I did get a BBS back up via telnet for a while but didn't link it into
the FlexNet network. The old door games were nice to play. and even
playing Legend of the Red Dragon in multi user mode was a blast!
... the good OLD days.... *sigh*
