After helping with a local ham radio course, I realise how confusing some of
the units, symbols, & names are to new comers.

Here is a short look at the problem if the names/units/symbols get misused or
are unclear. They can normally be distinguished by the context & a thorough
knowledge of the subject concerned.

ä (Sigma) for reiterative summation.
æ (mu) for the gain in triodes (tubes or valves), magnetic permeability.
