Simple voltage regulator using an op-amp and a MOSFET:

I had an idea the other day about using an op-amp/FET pair
to create a voltage regulator. The idea was to create a device
which would regulate the voltage based on the current across
the output load. The voltage on the output of the op-amp increases
as the current draw on the output increases, causing more current
to pass through the MOSFET and keep the voltage stable.

Assuming a supply voltage of 20 volts, drawing 2.3 watts from
the output will result in the output voltage dropping to ~13 volts.
The voltage drop is highly dependant on the type of MOSFET being used.

There is no ripple filtering in this circuit either, so the voltage
supplied needs to be smoothed.
