U.S. Air Force Academy - The USAFA, located north of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was begun in 1958. Incoming cadets (doolies) were issued slide rules. From 1959-1966 they were given Post (Japanese Sun Hemmi) slide rules, then from 1967 through 1969 they were issued US made K&E 4081's. The stitching on the sleeves was not as good as Post's so the switch to the Post Versalog started in 1970 and continued through 1975. During the later period, in 1972, cadets with engineering majors began transitioning, at their own expense to the HP 35 electronic calculator ($375). In 1975 the dean of the school officially made the change from analog to digital and began issuing Texas Instruments SR-51 electronic slide rules for future classes, taking up an entire two-week production run at the TI dallas plant. A display of math instruments used by USAFA cadets currently hangs in the campus.

Current classes - Texas Instruments TI-30XIIS, a 2-line scientific calculator
called the "Honorator" because it can't store answers in memory like a programmable.
