After some research, I found out how to transfer files via amateur radio
using the YAPP protocol on Linux.
Prerequisites:
-PC with a TNC running Linux
-AX25 installed and configured on the linux host
-BBS capable of sending/receiving files via YAPP protocol
(EX: BPQ, FBB, LinBB - JNOS won't work here)
Use 'axcall' to connect to the appropriate BBS. Command to do this is:
# axcall <radio interface configured in axports> <station> <via via via>
Example:
# axcall wl2k KG7UJH-15 KG7UJH-1
Once connected, issue the appropriate command to enter the files section.
To upload, issue ~yu /path/to/your/local/file in the axcall command prompt
To download, issue ~yd filename in the axcall command prompt.
axcall will show the progress of the download as it is taking place.
Below is an example of a successful file download:

Although winlink is not designed for this purpose, you can send files via
winlink as an email attachment. You will need a program such as Pat to download
those attachments - I am not sure if winlink will allow downloading the
attachment via a terminal program.
