WIA online events calendar

Date : 05 / 03 / 2021
Author : Robert Broomhead - VK3DN

In October 2020, for reasons unknown, the online calendar package which had been integrated into the WIA website some time ago,
ceased to function.
Upgrading to the latest version of the package didnt cure the problem, and it appears the developer may no longer maintaining the package.

As a result, a replacement calendar package has been developed that looks fairly identical to the previous one.
All previously approved events have been migrated to the new system. Behind the scenes, the processes are now more automated.
This should significantly reduce event approval times, and reduce the effort involved.
There are significant improvements that will benefit users.
There is now the ability to download an iCal file for an event and add it to your calendar.
You can also subscribe to the events calendar from your calendar software to have a constantly updated view of events in the calendar.
Details on how to do this are on the About page.

The COVID-19 crisis has put a big dampener on events, but we are beginning to emerge from that phase.
Please consider submitting your events to the online calendar.
It is a good form of free advertising for your event.
It is available to all clubs and amateurs, not just WIA members.
